    CanJam SoCal 2015, March 28-29, 2015

May I ask, is there any financial benefit to registering now versus closer to the date? As in will price for registration jump up at some point or is it first come first serve?

Geek Out (EM 100 or 450) vs JDS Labs C5D vs Sony PHA-1

Been racking my brain trying to figure out what my next purchase will be. I'm waiting on 1964ears V6-Stage and have my DT 1350's, looking for a new DAC/amp combo. I am not one for over the ears, so I anticipate not having high impedance (my DTs are 80ohms) and want something better than the...

Which current (latest model) smart phones have the best built in Amplifiers?

First, you probably should have posted this in the recommendations section: http://www.head-fi.org/f/7840/introductions-help-and-recommendations But to put it frankly, you will not get the maximum out of a few hundred impedance to 600 impedance headphone off of a smartphone. If you plan on...

    Sony PHA-1 portable DAC/amp

Question everyone, it seems like on the back there is both a full size USB cable and a micro usb slot.  My question is, which one would I plug into to use the DAC component on an android device? Do I need a Micro to micro cable, or will a Full Size A to Micro B cable work for use as a DAC...

    FiiO E18 Review

2 questions: How sturdy is the cable included? I'm concerned about finding another micro to micro usb cable. Would you recommend this against any other products? (Been looking at JDS Labs C5D, Geek out 450 and EM 100). I wouldn't say given no budget, but if I were to go above the price...

    JDS Labs C5/C5D (pg96) portable amp/amp+DAC

I'm actually finding it quite hard to find a place in LA that might still have stuff to demo. Oh well, guess I'll just have to make the decision

    JDS Labs C5/C5D (pg96) portable amp/amp+DAC

I'll have to look around. I'm in So Cal, so I'm bound to be able to find at least one place. I know every person is different, but would you say a 250 dollar investment in the C5D is worth it if it's mostly for the V6 Stage?

    JDS Labs C5/C5D (pg96) portable amp/amp+DAC

I am currently using DT 1350s from Beyerdynamic and will have 1964ears V6 stage ciems.

    JDS Labs C5/C5D (pg96) portable amp/amp+DAC

Could use some opinions: Looking for a new dac/amp, and the C5D seems to look pretty good. I'm planning on using it for Android which I know can have pretty hit or miss usage via OTG. Just wanted to ask what the opinions of the C5D are, because this would most likely be the unit I'll be using...

Light Harmonic Geek Out EM/1000 Impressions Thread

Quick question: Currently looking for a portable dac/amp without breaking the bank. I was wondering how good the Geek Outs are, in particular the 100 and the 450. The 450 price is better for me, but I will be buying a new dac/amp for the purpose of driving my custom IEMs (1964ears V6 Stage)...

Combo DAC/Amp solution for mobile source? (CIEMs and Supra-aural cans)

This does change things. That does look like a purchase I can extend a little bit on and be satisfied with it

Combo DAC/Amp solution for mobile source? (CIEMs and Supra-aural cans)

It is to my understanding that it doesn't work on android, is that not the case?

Combo DAC/Amp solution for mobile source? (CIEMs and Supra-aural cans)

Hi! I finally made my custom iem purchase, opting for the 1964ears V6-Stage. I had been using a HiFiMeDIY Sabre dac with 16bit/48kHz and a FiiO e12 Mont Blanc, but I've decided I want a dedicated dac/amp solution. Right now I am using a Moto X 2013, and will upgrade to another Android...

    Light Harmonic GEEK

By chance are you adept with custom roms and kernels? And by adept, I mean know how to flash and whatnot. Nexus devices have had that problem, but if you are okay with unlocking the bootloader, you'll probably be able to find a custom rom and kernel combo that could get it to work.

    Optimal Mobile listening experience? (CIEMs)

Finally have some money saved up, and I'm trying to decide between the 1964ears V3 or the Alclair Reference. Is there a major difference between the 1964ears 1 high, 1 mid, 1 low versus the Alclair 2 woofers and 1 tweeter? I primarily listen on my phone, using a HiFiMan USB-DAC and a Fiio...

    1964 Ears

Hi folks, sorry to barge in! I'm really interested in getting a pair of 1964ears, and I'm trying to decide between the V3 and V6. Obviously if money wasn't a factor I'd go with the V6, but I wanted to ask if the 200 dollar price jump from the V3 to V6 is worth it, or should I go with the V6...

Entry/Mid-level Custom IEM recommendations? (How many drivers is too many)

I've had Triple Fi 10s before and Westone 3s. I totally understand that line of reasoning on diminishing returns, but also not wanting to be supremely unhappy with a custom that I don't enjoy. I think my biggest concern is that I'm not terribly sure of the quality of the 2 places, only for price...

Entry/Mid-level Custom IEM recommendations? (How many drivers is too many)

Currently looking to get a pair of Custom IEMs. 1964ears and Alclair are the two companies I am looking at considering their price points.   I'm debating between the Alclair Reference or the 1964ears V3 or V6.   Obviously the V6 is in there as a reach, which leads to my question: How many...

    Custom IEM Recommendations?

I recently started looking for a new set of IEMs, and after some thought, I think that custom IEMs are the way to go.   Over the short period of time (3-4 years) that I've really cared about my IEMs, I've only owned two notable pairs: UE Triple-Fi 10s and Westone 3s.   I currently use a...

Thanks for the reply! Also where can I get audio wipes?

Is it okay to run with Custom IEMs?

I was looking to pick up some IEMs for running/going to the gym. I have a pair of cans (Beyerdynamic DT1350), and I think it would be a bit ridiculous to run with them. However, I sweat a lot when I run, so I am concerned my sweat might ruin a pair of Custom IEMs if I go that direction...
