I can report my nexus 5 works with the HRT microstreamer finally flowless since the Andoid 5.0 update, volume control of the phone is also working as expected...  (it was on and off before and I had popping sound after 5 minutes of play on the CM rom)

I've tried with the firwmare 1.3 and 1.2(NAS) as well, the problem is not gone. I've received feedback from the CM team (Steve Klondik) in the meantime. It is probably a CM11 power management related issue happening on the msm8974 chip.

I would not bet on that cable, it is not an OTG one. The one and only reviewer has been missing the OTG (host) functionality as well.
