Nice review.   KC06A has quickly become one of my favourites. I'd say it's the only IEM I've had that didn't require any calibration to achieve a great sound to my ears. It's just a natural all-rounder!

I'm not sure if the altones came with them but I definitely preferred the biflange tips with the H300, Altones big brother. Smoothed out the highs while keeping bass and detail quite well.

Sansa Clip is quite a good player, and works well with IEMs that tend to the bright side, as the treble is quite smooth on it.   Best I have heard for rock and metal is the T-Peos H-300, which you can now get in the "no frills" version as Altone200 for significantly less $$. See here for info...

Interesting impressions as always. Your description makes them sound very similar to the KC06A in sound quality and signature. I'm curious if these can justify being $30 more. Maybe in ruggedness at least.

Yeah the driver may be same kind, but likely the size of the housing/chamber gives the H300 gives it a bit more bass kick.

No worries.   It's the same for the peaky treble btw; a bit of eq, a different source, or different tips can make a world of difference in taming that treble.

Try the KSC-75. They have big bass, but its quite well controlled and doesn't get in the way of the clear yet dynamic sound.   They won't give you any isolation, but I think they are perfect for running, cycling, walking, etc.   And for the price, not much to lose I think...

Great bass and clear sound = Altone 200 imo

It's interesting H20, regarding the sands clip. I also agree that it pairs very well with the H300/Altone, but I found it sounded much better with default firmware than with Rockbox on! I couldn't tell you why....

On my H-300 the bass with this track is magnificent. Altone should be fairly similar according to other reports.

H-300 owner here. If the Altones are similar as described then the bass will have plenty of power, but also be very clean with minimal profile. If you like driving around in cars that go DOOF DOOF, you will be disappointed, but if you like drums that sound like DRUMS, T-Peos will give you that...
