    Mahler's 10th?

Well, the one movement that is actually by Mahler is the Adagio.  You are discovering why many conductors refused to acknowledge the 10th (except the adagio) as part of the Mahler canon.

    Keith Jarrett Discussion and Poll

I love them all but I had to vote for the live solo improvisations.  I'm like Patrick Moraz, wqho famously said that he was an "unconditional fan" of Keith Jarrett.   I have not yet heard "Testament".  How do folks here like it?

    Mahler Symphonies Favorite Recordings

I'm still out here - I just checked this thread for the first time in a very long time and found this post.  I'll have to do some reading to catch up.   I've been listening to the Bertini set lately as well!

    Mahler Symphonies Favorite Recordings

Hi all - It's been a while since I was here and checked this epic thread. Two questions: 1. What does everyone regard as the hot new Mahler set/recordings? 2. Is it true that the Bernstein NYP set is out of print?

    Christian Rock

Another vote for Neal Morse. Especially Sola Scriptura - one of my all-time favorite progressive albums and obviously "Christian".

Which Headphones is good to Nightwish?

I have really been enjoying Once and Dark Passion Play with my ER6i's. The Etys are great phones for classical so the more symphonic NW albums really shine on them.

    Nightwish

I would have never encountered this band except that my daughter (who attends college in Switzerland) told me about them after her Finnish friends introduced her. As someone new to the band, I think the new singer is an improvement, albeit with a very different style. The old stuff is good too -...

    Another Mahler - Disney connection

Some of the musical motives from the old Star Trek series sound like they were lifted from Mahler's 7th.

    RE2 vs. ER6i?

Try your ER6is with Shure black foamie tips before you pass final judgement on the bass response.

    Rediscovering ER6i's

I just bought a pair of ER6i's as a gapfill/second pair of IEM's while my beloved SE530's are being repaired (cracked cable - surprise!). This is actually the second time I've owned ER6i's (I gave the first pair to my wife who still uses them). This time around, I've noticed two things that have...

Possible Mozart/Beethoven/Bach Complete Works CD Sets Bargains

I have all three and love them all. The Bach and Mozart have a lot of period-style recordings. Whether that's good or bad depends on your point of view of course.

    Symphony Fantastique Recommendations

Another vote here for the Gardiner. I have several SFs, and Gardiner is by far my favorite.

Welcome Back to Head-Fi.org. I'm Sorry About the Extended Outage

So great to have it back. Thanks guys for the hard work. When I think of some of the precious data contained in these pages, and how much of it could have been gone forever, it makes me appreciate this resource all the more.

    Mahler Symphonies Favorite Recordings

Does anyone own "The Kaplan Mahler Edition" featuring the Kaplan M2 on Conifer? I'm talking about the one with the M5 Adagietto, Mahler piano roll recordings, and other features. Anyway: I just bought it used on amazon, and I can't seem to access the photo gallery supposedly contained as a CDROM...

    Ety Questions

Thanks for the response. Would you be willing to give me some specifics on what you mean by "completely different league"? Have you actually heard both?

    Ety Questions

Two questions for the Ety experts here: 1. Would you comment on the sonic differences between the Er4p and ER6i? 2. Are the tips interchangable between these two phones?

Eaah! Just got a pair of Shure SE530s. What gives?

I own both SE530s and Etys. I think the real issue is that, after listening to one for a while, the other sounds dramatically different until you get used to it. Both are excellent, and equally valid approaches.

    NEW BINAURAL/HYBRID SACD Glenn Gould/Zenph

This recording is a lot of fun. Not exactly like the old Gould per se (the difference is no grunts - the notes are identical) but a briliant binaural Goldberg for headphooes. No problems ripping the CD layer to iPod. I'd love to see other applications of this technology.
