    I have had these for over a year, I think they are very well build, but I wished the bass was a bit less. I guess I could try other tips. I do agree they are great, and the price is just right too.

    VE Monk or VE Monk Lite?

    I bought the Monk Plus and I think they are OK, nothing incredible about them, as someone already said, the apple ones are about the same, but the price of the Monks is just great. I like these because they don't go inside your ear canal.

    I agree with your "Cons", my ears hurt after long listening sessions, I tried them with other pads, but then sound suffers.

    I want to understand the proper configuration of Linux sound when using DACs.

    I have owned these for about 3 years, and as you said, it is good when you just want to listen to music without paying attention to quality; they block the noise pretty good. They can be found now for about $50, which is not bad. My only problem with these is the battery unit, it gets in the way.
