What do you think of the AKM VERITA AK4490 DAC chip?
Hi, Burr Brown DAC chipset was at the forefront of DAC design, nowadays there are so many competitors. I use the BB dac chipset more than 20 years ago and recently I pay more attention to Ak and ES chipsets. Kytu.. is correct it is the implementation of the DAC chipset that's important...- ttan98

What do you think of the AKM VERITA AK4490 DAC chip?
Hi, I read a few reviews from users comparing ES9018 and AK4490, if the former is implemented well it is very accurate even close to clinical sound whereas the AK4490 is less forgiving and more musical. I opt for the latter, I own a few DIY DAC based on AK4**** is various incarnations, the...- ttan98

To those who want to get an affordable ES9018 DAC see inside....
If I buy I would only buy the PCB and Parts this combo will cost about $109 excl. CM6613, I have all the rest, ie power transformer, cabinet etc. If you are cautious type you want to let others try it first, at the same time wait for the price will drop over the next 6-12 months.- ttan98

To those who want to get an affordable ES9018 DAC see inside....
Declaration: I am not associated with the website, I am interested because I am a hobbyist and competent with a soldering iron. Even those who are not can ask the vendor to knock up a system for a fraction of the price offered by a commercial DAC. Whether it sounds similar or equal to or better...- ttan98

Jie Extreme Player 2.7.2 released
I am speaking from a user point of view, I don't play from compressed file, i.e Flac, mp3, etc, I play directly from CD or tracks from HDtracks, so playing WAV files seem logical for me, but every time I play a CD I have convert it to WAV and store it somewhere is rather time consuming and a...- ttan98

Jie Extreme Player 2.7.2 released
Hi, Thinkspace, Version 2.5 supports: 1 Windows 8 only, windows 7 NOT supported 2. What about AMD processor e.g. E450? I get inferior sound if I use AMD processor why? 3. Only WAV what about other types of files? My opinion is that it should be able to read files directly from Audio CD and...- ttan98

Hi, I am new to this and I must admit I haven't through all the correspondences. From what I gather JIE can do the following: 1. read WAV only. 2. Cannot read audio track directly from audio CD in CDrom, I have to convert the cd track to WAV first. 3. Audio tracks played...- ttan98

Review: Yulong D100 DAC/amp - reference quality with a reasonable price
Project86, I believe the good value DAC(high quality) now is Yulong D100 and Matrix Quatro, both better than my Matrix cube. Having said that rather than upgrade to either one, I should wait for the next generation DAC based on Sabre ESS9018 chip set to get the best quality sound. ...- ttan98
