After 10 years, my Sennheiser HD590s have died...

Thanks for the replies!  Yeah I got my money's worth on these. From what I've read, the HD600 really needs an amp to perform properly, and I don't want to go down that route.

After 10 years, my Sennheiser HD590s have died...

Man I loved those headphones. And I only just replaced the velour pads a few months ago as well. I tried to glue it, but it didn't stay..haha Too many falls off the desk, unfortunately.   At the moment, I'm thinking of the HD598 for a replacement...though I did hear a complaint or...

    Got imp-550 - a couple questions...

    Got imp-550 - a couple questions...

Just got my iRiver imp-550, after a few weeks of perusing this board and asking you guys questions This PCDP really rocks - and even more so since I upgraded the firmware (to me it seems the sound quality also increased with the new firmware? Some people disagree though..). I'm also...

New PCDP needed: cdrw/mp3 support, remote. Suggestions?

Amazon doesn't ship overseas though... Hmm...so it's back to either the NE1 or 550. I found an Australian site with the iMP-550, and the price isn't too bad - considering I won't have to pay for a transformer or for shipping. Can anyone confirm that the skip issue with the 550 has been...

New PCDP needed: cdrw/mp3 support, remote. Suggestions?

Yeah, the NE1 and NE9 are pretty much the same. Although the NE1 has longer battery life when using rechargables: NE9: ATRAC3plus: 40 / CD: 25 hours NE1: ATRAC3plus: 55 / CD: 35 hours Ah, ok - so I can plug my headphones straight in. With my old Discman, the remote used a 'micro' plug...

New PCDP needed: cdrw/mp3 support, remote. Suggestions?

I won't be using an amp, and will rarely use the line-out feature. I would like to use my HD-590s though - can I plug these into the remote with a miniplug adapter? I use my 590s sometimes with my old PCDP (Sony D-E775) and they don't sound so hot coming out of a portable, but hey. But I've...

New PCDP needed: cdrw/mp3 support, remote. Suggestions?

Thanks for the replies. This is getting tougher and tougher. I'm willing to pursue iRiver (and pay for shipping) if it comes down to it. But my list of candidates is practically none now. From what I've read on the board: - Panasonic SL-CT800: Average sound quality, some bad reviews -...

New PCDP needed: cdrw/mp3 support, remote. Suggestions?

I would appreciate some suggested models to look at for a new PCDP. My limit is around $250 US. I need CDRW and MP3 support, a remote, and decent anti-skip. iRiver doesn't seem to be an option as I live in Australia and there are no iRiver distributors here. I was looking at the Sony...

    Sennheiser HD 590 Owner's

Mine are great too - no problems here. And I use them for hours at a time (sound editing, movies, etc). I did find the HD600's a little tight though..but not uncomfortably tight in the short time I used them.

Need input on HD590 from HD580/600/570 users

I, too, also love my 590s. As I have stated before, when I first got my pair, they were a little bright - but after breaking them in the extra brightness went away and they sound excellent. And they are *outstanding* for movies. Prizm

    Eytomic? or Sennhesier for travel?

I have never heard Etymotics (not available yet in Australia), but I would seriously consider the Sennheiser 280 Pros. When I was testing headphones on a rack recently, I had in mind the 590s. There were plenty of Sennheisers on the rack, but the only pair that came close to the 590s was the 280...

    Trance and 'High-End' Headphones

I find my Sennheiser 590's work great with Trance. Although because of their detail, they can bring out how bad a sample is, or the low quality of the beat instruments. A lot of the time, techno just contains run-of-the-mill samples, and it shows when you have decent headphones to hear them...

    I got my 590s!

DarkWolf - You mean those delivery guys walked into your house, and put the box down on your table?? And in your favorite spot none-the-less?? About the brightness - It seems that some people have it and some don't. It may just be the way they come from the factory, some end up brighter...

    me and my hd590's

Yeah, that's another reason why I didn't want the 600s - I didn't want to shell out more money for an amplifier, since the 600s need a lot of power. I use my 590s for PC work, and they sound great. I doubt the 600s would do so well coming out of a PC. One other thing I noticed about the 600s...

    me and my hd590's

I've had my 590s for a month and a half now, and I love 'em. I did a LOT of research before getting them. I would've gotten the 570's if I wasn't able to get the 590s so cheap ($190 US). I just saw the 590s in a major department store today retailing for $300 US! (I'm in Australia) I got a...

opinions on a few headphones needed.

I haven't tried the Philips, but I now have the Senn. 590s - and they are awesome. I tried the Senn. 497's alongside the 570s, and the 570s made a huge difference. There was just no comparison. And the 590s are apparently a big step up from the 570s. I have tried one of the DT250s (not sure...

Just got HD590s - question of impedance

Just got the HD590s after a lot of research and reading reviews. These are awesome! The full open-back really makes the sound more realistic - almost like it's coming from speakers in a lounge room instead of inside your head (or a tin can). I got them for the PC because I do a lot of sound...
