LG G3 as a portable source?
Is there a (big) difference in audio quality between G3 and v10? I'm searching for a smartphone to replace my iphone4. Only things I care about is price (cheap) and audio quality, that's why I was still using ip4 but unfortunately i broke it now.- maibuN

Hifiman Edition X
I listened to HE1K a few days ago, I don't know if it was v1 or v2, it was the best hp I heard until now, better than focal utopia but it had a slight sibilance which you would have to EQ out. HE1K v2 vs HEX v2? How close gets the X?- maibuN

Focal Elear - Impressions Thread
Yes, but take it with a grain of salt. Some may agree, some may disagree. Elear is a polarising headphone. Best would be too listen and judge yourself :) I also don't think Elear is a logical step up from HD650 as they are more rough and not as smooth and are more agressive sounding than the...- maibuN

Focal Elear - Impressions Thread
I have both HD650 and Elear and use them with idsd and hifi-m8. Elear is certainly not a significant step up in SQ. It will do some things better (bass, clarity) and other things worse (tonal balance). It is up to personal taste.- maibuN

That's what I would agree with :) But I agree with u, that I it is paradoxical that he recommends the Elear so often when he hears so many flaws.- maibuN

Focal Elear - Impressions Thread
Thanks for your help. I think my chain is fine, it is just the headphone that sucks. As a said even a non audiophile friend could instantly tell that there is something wrong with the elear but I will not have monetary pain selling it because I already bought it used for a cheap price, so...- maibuN

Focal Elear - Impressions Thread
Yes, it is very unnatural. It might be because of the huge upper midrage dip in combination with the uneven treble. A friend listened to my Elear in comparison with Ether / HD650. He is absolutely not into audio and he doesn't have experience with (expensive) headphones. He said Elear just...- maibuN

Focal Elear - Impressions Thread
I use Centrance Hifi-m8 via USB from my computer with spotify or foobar. For comparison I had modded HD800 (sd & anax 2), Ether Open and HD650. From what I have been reading, Elear should be smooth and warm sounding, at least more so than HD800 and Ether Open but honestly I can't confirm this...- maibuN

Focal Elear - Impressions Thread
I will be hated for saying this but my Elear is continuing to give me hearing loss with its extremely rough and agressive signature and its elevated highs. It might be even worse than stock HD800.- maibuN

I don't know the LCD4 but from my memory the Elear can't even outclass the LCD-X or old LCD2 non Fazor.- maibuN

MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones
I also love that treble rolled off, dark sounding signature off the HD650 and also the mids are superb. But I agree with you, the bloated bass is really a problem. But annoying / agressive highs with Flow could also be a problem.- maibuN

MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones
With the Ether Open I don't have much of a problem with the treble, it's overall a bit bright headphone but it's not killing my ears like a HD800 or Beyer. Elear was just a bit uneven in treble but listenable and I think with eq it will get really nice. Is the Ether Flow so much more...- maibuN

MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones
I bought a used Ether Open (not flow) and I don't really love it. It's sound signature sounds bright and not very realistic what is a bit annoying with vocals. Even when I am in Teamspeak with some friends I find their voices sound bad with the Ether compared to the HD650. Also, the Ether hast...- maibuN

iFi iDSD Micro DSD512 / PCM768 DAC and Headphone Amp. Impressions, Reviews and Comments.
Am I the only one who thinks bass is a bit imprecise with idsd? I lent my idsd to a friend and after getting it back the frist thing which came to my mind was how direct and warm it is which I like very much and second thing was that the bass is a bit hard to follow because it's imprecise.- maibuN

Audeze LCD-X
I also tried those headbands. Imo the leather ist too thick and inflexible and the overall strap was a bit too short for my head. I think it is a very good idea but there is some room for improvement. A thin and flexible leather pad like stax headphones have would be better imo and also the...- maibuN

Glad to hear you could get used to it. I'm still heartbroken I had to return my lcd-x because of comfort issues and bought hd800 for the third time. lcd-x was much more fun and I miss it every day but the weight of it gave me headaches and neck pain.- maibuN

I would suggest you to make a blind test to be sure it's not just a placebo. A difference like changing an dac/amp with a cable? Are there any technical explanations for this? And burn-in with a cable? Sounds pretty strange to me. That's no offense, I believe that you are hearing it, but as I...- maibuN

Maybe, but if you don't know the message in detail you can't know if it's pure truth. And what if your messages are all painful? Do you like to have pain while listening music? Or do you only want to pick some good messages and ignore the others?- maibuN
