DAC incompatibility with OSX Mavericks
Greetings everyone, I recently switched from a windows based PC to a Mac running Mavericks (OSx 10.9). From the beginning, I noticed some very obvious clicking and static during music playback. My set up is, and always has been, Computer > ODAC > O2 > headphones. Music playback was...- Greenleaf7

Tyll Hersten/Innerfidelity's 21 Amp Measurements...
Quote: The E09 has a rather high output impedance of 10 ohms, making it unsuitable for use with more sensitive headphones. Generally, you'd want to have the impedance of the headphones to be at least 8x that of the amp's output impedance, hence the term '1/8th rule'. Anything less would...- Greenleaf7

Tyll Hersten/Innerfidelity's 21 Amp Measurements...
With regards to output impedance, the two amps with the highest output impedance measured are the Beyerdynamic A1 and Alo International which have an output impedance of 99 and 21 ohms respectively. Does anyone know why those amps are designed as such? Wouldn't a high output impedance make it...- Greenleaf7

Testing audiophile claims and myths
The latest Astell & Kern DAP, the AK120, utilizes two DAC chips instead of one. And according to the manufacturer, it offers the following benefits. The AK120 not only meets the standards of Hi-Fi audio, but also utilizes two DACs (digital to analog converters) maximizing the dual-mono...- Greenleaf7

Headphones NEEDING Power
With regards to the LCD2 and amp recommendation, I observed that most if not all the reviews on amp pairing were purely subjective. I realized that in the LCD2 amp recommendation thread itself, the perceived sonic quality has a strong correlation with the price of the amps used in the reviews...- Greenleaf7

Headphones sensitivity, impedance, required V/I/P, amplifier gain
Thanks for the added information. I have a question regarding how the calculations work. Take for instance the Beyerdynamic T1, which is rated at 600 ohms. Why did you base the calculations on a 730 ohm impedance?- Greenleaf7

Peer groups, self selection, the breadth of the audiophile community
I suppose what you're trying to say is that all audibly transparent equipment should theoretically sound the same? The headphone out on my laptop computer had audible hiss when no music was playing, hence my reason for getting a dac and amp that are both audibly transparent. It's safe to...- Greenleaf7
