Post the last thing you bought. Oh fun!
Music: King Crimson THRAK CD, since I discovered the last two tracks on my copy could not be verified and had some issues. Gear: Singxer SU-6 and Quicksilver Headphone Amp.- luckybaer

Singxer SU-6
I just got my SU-6. Downloaded drivers, and my PC recognized it. Using JRiver Media Center > USB > SU-6 >BNC > Gungnir MB > Quicksilver Headphone Amp > K601. So far, so good.- luckybaer

Quicksilver Audio Headphone Amplifier any opinions?
I'm listening to the 1987 pressing of "Abbey Road" - Denon DCD-1600NE > Gungnir MB > Quicksilver > DT-880 [OG]. Bass extension, macrodynamics, microdynamics... it is all there. Noise floor is very low - especially after I went direct from my DAC to the amp. I bought a couple sets of tubes...- luckybaer

Headphone amps under $650 vs high end headphone amps?
I was tossing out thoughts on higher end amps vs. less costly products. Regarding Vali 2, a more apt comparison would be to my Quicksilver, but that will be another mismatch, and not entirely apples to apples, as Vali 2 is a hybrid, and QSHA is SET (I believe). I think the entry Schiit...- luckybaer

Headphone amps under $650 vs high end headphone amps?
I have a Auralic Taurus MkII, along with a Vali 2 and Magni 3 (I have a Quicksilver HA, but not long enough to opine with any degree of authority), and I notice differences. The Vali 2 and Magni 3 are really nice entry-level amps. Where they obviously fall behind the Taurus is clarity...- luckybaer

Quicksilver Audio Headphone Amplifier any opinions?
The QSHA arrived and is safely set up on my second rack. Oddly, it shares a shelf with a Parks Puffin - strange bedfellows, indeed. I’m enjoying the music and am not doing any critical listening or analysis. Importantly, I don’t find anything wrong with how it sounds or functions (thank...- luckybaer

Singxer SU-6
I’m a Luddite, so I still use USB to my DAC. I bought a cheap Douk Audio USB to SPDIF converter and liked it enough to step up to the SU-6. I liked all the outputs from the SU-6, I read the reviews, and I thought it would be a final addition to my digital chain. I’ll be going USB > SU-6 >...- luckybaer

Quicksilver Audio Headphone Amplifier any opinions?
Ordered one of these a few days ago as a present to myself. Arrives before Christmas. I spent time clearing out non-essential gear to make room. This is my first “real” tube amp (Vali 2 being a hybrid), so I’m looking forward to the experience. Chain will be Gungnir MB > Khozmo PreAmp >...- luckybaer

Douk Audio U2 Pro DDC - Poorman DDC for an affordable & clean digital signal
Thanks for the tips! DAC is fine - Gungnir MB, but USB is not the best part of the DAC.- luckybaer

Douk Audio U2 Pro DDC - Poorman DDC for an affordable & clean digital signal
I ordered a Douk Audio U2 PRO from Amazon and it arrived yesterday. Set up was easy. I've got it set up as follows: PC > USB > U2 Pro > Coax > DAC > Pre-Amp > Amp > Speakers. I haven't spent enough time with it to determine if it is better than the USB implementation on my Gungnir MB (Gen 5...- luckybaer

Auralic Taurus MKII or Schiit Ragnarok?
Long-time Taurus owner - I love the headamp. Plenty of power for just about any headphone. HD650, Elex, HE-4XX, DT880, K-601 are my headphones. My Taurus is fed by a OG Freya.- luckybaer

I replaced it with a Blue Dragon cable from Moon Audio. The new cable gave the cans more clarity without making them bright or adding any other issues. I like them a lot. What don't you like about the stock cable?- luckybaer

Does your DAC have digital outs? If so, do you use them? If you use them, how and why do you use them? USB to SPDIF transport? Just trying to learn more about the feature on some DACs!- luckybaer

TOPPING Pre90 & Ext90 launched
It appears to be a pre-amp with a module that allows you to run more components through the pre-amp if you are constrained by the inputs available on the base unit. At least that’s how I’m interpreting it... Feel free to set me straight if I missed something.- luckybaer

HiFiMan HE4XX
When I first got mine over two years ago, I thought they were OK. Good bass extension, so-so mids and highs. They seemed almost too polite - like I was listening through a felt pad. Dare I say... veiled? Last week I ordered a cable upgrade - balanced, but with a 4-pin XLR to 1/4" plug...- luckybaer

Out of curiosity, why did you respond in such a sarcastic manner? Did you miss the part where I even admitted I spent a decent amount of $$ on tubes? I also had a favorable comment on the amp itself. If my intent was to insult those who (like myself) spent $$ tube rolling w/Vali 2, the tone...- luckybaer

Official Schiit Vali 2 Thread
This is a $149 tube hybrid headphone amp. I wouldn't go too crazy spending a lot of money on tubes and stuff. But, the again, I'm one to talk, as I've got a handful of tubes (none of which cost more than $60, and half of them are $30 or less). I like this little amp so much, that I pulled it...- luckybaer
