240v subwoofer to pair with my new Dayton B652s

Wow, great advice as always. You've both given me some things to think about. A very detailed response 4145. My source at the moment is my PC but I'm so happy with this little setup I'm thinking of moving it downstairs to a dedicated music/reading room. I have some Sonos kit so I was thinking...

240v subwoofer to pair with my new Dayton B652s

Hi,   I recently bought some Dayton Studio monitors and Lepai LP-2020A+ amp, and am really very happy with them.   Now I'd like to add an amplifier but I think the widely recommended Dayton ones are only 110v and I need 240v (Australia).   Has anyone got any recommendations or links...

Floorstand speakers as near-field computer speakers

Hey thanks for all the input guys. I really do appreciate it, and I know many of you spend a lot of your own time replying to others. I've decided to get some 2 way nearfields and just make room for them. I think i'll steer clear of computer speakers. I went to a local shop and listened to some...

Floorstand speakers as near-field computer speakers

Hi. Well as my search continues for some new near-field speakers I've been weighing up whether i should sacrifice room (typically 7") on either side of my 2x 24" monitors, or get smaller speakers. Then I came up with an alternative idea. Can I run full floor speakers as near-field speakers...

Something smaller than Dayton Audio B652 / Lepai combo...?

Don't laugh but the current "garbages" are the Logitech LS21's: http://www.logitech.com/en-au/product/LS21-speakers?crid=47   - budgets under $200 for amp, speakers and sub - but I could stretch, - I have been looking at the Dayton Sub-1000 but I really don't have the space for it either...

Something smaller than Dayton Audio B652 / Lepai combo...?

I want to upgrade my garbage Logitech computer speakers to something better. I was considering the Lepai 2020a+ amp and Dayton Audio B652 bookshelf speakers with their Sub-1000 subwoofer, and although I think it would be great I don't really have the room on my desk as I run 2x 24" monitors...

    » iPhone 3GS + Portable Amp + Headphones?

Are you suggesting the go-dap instead of the z02? I tried ordering one (only 20 bucks) but its saying Amazon won't ship to me. I'm in Australia.

iPhone battery conservation when using amps

That's interesting PM. I enjoyed reading that. I'm new to the scene and all but it does surprise me that I don't see more high end LOD cables that are 2 way splitters for example line out for audio and USB for charging the iDevice. I've already ordered the C&C BH portable amp which is not a...

C&C BH Portable Headphone Amp (80 Hours from a Single Charge!) [Buyer Review]

I just bagged the Fiio 9 off ebay. I looked at many others as I was worried about quality, but I like how the Fiio cable comes out the side which I think will put less stress on the LOD iPhone port. If I get into this more I'll spend more money on a better cable and see.

    » iPhone 3GS + Portable Amp + Headphones?

@MrViolin: I've already started researching potential future purchases and I was reading about the Z02 amp. It interests me because its not only an amp, but you can also tweak the audio too. I'm kind of thinking my next purchase should be some IEMs for work, but this interests me.

iPhone battery conservation when using amps

Hi - Given that a lot of us use iPhones as our source, I was wondering if anyone's run tests comparing listening to an iPhone without an amp and again but with an amp...? I'm awaiting delivery of my first portable amp and was wondering whether my iPhone will work less and save battery power by...

The Home Network Media Server / NAS / etc. Superthread

Quote:   AKA - NAS Killer. So cheap you can't afford not to buy one :)   Make sure you throw 16GB Ram at it too. Hell, some guys are running VMware on it for labs etc. They're just such a versatile platform.

The Home Network Media Server / NAS / etc. Superthread

Quote:   Safety? RAID isn't a substitute for backing data up. Think house burning down, thieves, viruses, corruptions (hardware or software). It only offers protection against disk failure.   I've never had a WD green fail yet, and I wouldn't care if they did really either. As I said...

The Home Network Media Server / NAS / etc. Superthread

I bought a HP Microserver (N40L) for around $220 and upgraded its Ram from 2GB to 16GB. The specs say it only runs 8GB but about 1 year ago someone actually tested adding the additional 8 and to everyone's delight it worked.  I've also installed 5 green hard disks in it (software mirrored 2 of...

    Anyone used Sonos?

I also have a few SONOS speakers in my house. I use PowerLine devices instead of the wireless mesh, which uses the electrical cabling in my house to transmit data. I've found it great and am very happy with it. I stream via Spotify (make sure you tick the "High Quality Streaming" option in...

Where do you get your music?

I stream 80% from Spotify using their "high quality streaming" option in the apps preferences.   The other 20% of the time I listen to FLAC stored on my multi-media server.  This is usually the stuff I really like.
