    Step up from HE400

Have a Woo WA7 on order which will be hooked up to a Macbook Pro (VBR V0).   Top played artists on my iTunes are Alternative/Indie (Mumford & Sons, Lumineers), Electronic (Massive Attack, Portishead), Hip-hop (Talib Kweli, Eminem), Female vocals (Imogen Heap, Sia, Norah Jones)...

    Step up from HE400

I love my HE400, but starting to get the itch for something new.   What would be some options for a worthwhile upgrade that still has that fun sound signature like the HE400?

Quote:   Congrats bud, the 400s were my recent bday self-gift as well.   Might want to check if Moon actually has them available tomorrow. I called to ask a shipping question after I placed the order last week and they were sold out, frustrating when a company's website doesn't...

If you guys haven't run into Lindsey Stirling, the HE400 really shines with her style. The bass drops are much more impressive with a better source of course, but here's one of my fav songs to show off this HP:

Have a Ray Samuels Predator on the way for the HE400, wondering if anyone has experience with this pairing?

Quote: Haha, good to hear. I should have put a "not responsible for what may occur during said manhandling" disclaimer in that post.   Since the dust cover has a decent amount of give, I've also found it helpful to get my finger behind the clip and lift the inner part of the ring up a...

Quote: It feels painful but you just have to manhandle it. Give it one good push inwards and then down. I've found that trying to go about it gently just makes it take more tries, making it more likely you screw up a clip before you break the ring IMO.

Quote:   I really like it, I only wish it had a dedicated storage space inside or maybe a zipper pouch on the outside.    There's definitely room on top of the central foam between the headphones so I'm going to look for a decent pouch to velcro on there.

Quote:   Here's a quick pic. It's a pretty tight fit around the stock headband and will probably require some modification to the travel case.

I was actually going to order the headband today via Amazon, so if you want to wait a few days I will report back.

I use the Hifiman travel case and I find it very protective. It's certainly not in the same league as a Pelican case, so may not survive a trip in the bathtub, but the outer shell is actually quite hard.

If I were going desktop I would definitely jump on the magni/modi combo. Thanks for the help. Any other suggestions for transportable amp/dac with best synergy with the HE400 under $500?

    Amp for the Amperiors?

Most Amperior users with an E17 seem to be very content with the upgrade in sound quality. I wouldn't discount it based on whether OP is going to use its DAC function or not considering it's jam packed with other features.

    portable headphone amp under $50?

At 16 ohms I'm not sure these cans would benefit from extra power. I'd probably just leave them as the great value they are rather than putting another $30 into them, especially since if you decide to upgrade your HP in the future, an E02i will be useless for anything worth giving juice to.  ...

    Transportable Amp/Dac for HE400

Hoping for some help to find the ideal "transportable" amp/dac for the HE400 in the $250 - $500 range. I've been running an E17 but I'm looking to make a final upgrade and bring out the HE400s full potential. I connect to an old Macbook Pro, iPad/iPhone, and a PC with a poor sound card.  ...

Just want to start by saying that all of you who have contributed to this thread have seriously helped me to make buying decisions. Thanks to the info I picked up an E17 when I first got my HE400 just to get started. It's done a great job for what it is, but I'm looking for a final upgrade.   ...

    Classifieds Price Suggestion

I'm new here so I really have no place to be making suggestions, however, I do frequent A LOT of forums. I've been browsing the classifieds sections a fair amount and something that is very frustrating is that prices are hardly ever kept intact.   Many forums require that prices be left up...
