PLANAR IEMs fans thread-Impressions, suggestions, ranking list, techs

Fantastic. The original Tin Hifi P1 Max was not only technically excellent but, from a tuning perspective, had a subdued yet clear upper-mid range. The resultant sound was one that you could enjoy the entire spectrum. For those who enjoy planar bass, this tuning allows you to turn up the volume...

PLANAR IEMs fans thread-Impressions, suggestions, ranking list, techs

Akros just dropped this review on the Shozy P20, but he goes in-depth into a really useful comparison of a number of sets, including the Artti, Klanar, Nice HCK, P1 Max, MP145, etc. As a reviewer he is on point, and he isn't just championing expense sets, he tries to be objective using both...

    Moondrop in-ear monitors Impressions Thread

Mine was held together with glue before it was lost. I am very happy with my Quintet as a replacement/alternative (tracks similar to Dusk2 with a unique driver config). The Kiwi Ears is cheaper, simpler but sturdy build, has a lip for ear tips, and is smaller and sits flush in the ear for in-bed...

    The Kiwi ears Quintet Thread:

Found your review useful ahead of purchasing these, especially as I owned the FH5S prior and it was great reading your comparisons between these. The Fh5S indeed has incredible bass, I think in part due to its semi-open back design. I actually loved the FH5S signature but wanted to see it go to...

    Sennheiser HD 700 Impressions Thread

To this day, the HD700 is one of the most comfortable over-ear headphones designed, even more so than the HD800. The HD700 was also incredible for gaming as well. It has a coloured response, but still quite an enjoyable presentation. Currently, I have the 660S, which I feel gels the easy...

    The Kiwi ears Quintet Thread:

Kiwi Ears Quintet Impressions Have had the Quintet for over a week. Early impressions are highly favourable. This is an outstanding IEM. Coming from a Blessing 2, Focal Utopia, HD600 and many other references I can say that the Quintent is neutral, but is more vivid. However, this vivid aspect...

    IEM recomendations

Going to say the ER2SE is a fine a choice, even though I've never owned a set, I've had Etymotic ER4SR, ER2XR, 4XR, HF3, HF5, 4S. For jazz/classical, you don't need to be overwhelmed by bass. And the ER2SE tuning will be a better choice than the ER2XR. Better yet if you can get a ER3SE the...

    Sennheiser HD250 Linear Impressions Micro-Thread

I'm glad to see this thread still going ~7 years after I started it. The fact that so many of you are enjoying the HD250 is a testament to its sound quality and ruggedness.| I've more or less stopped the endless rotation of headphones I once enjoyed years back, and just settled on a handful of...

    Knowledge Zenith (KZ) impressions thread

I've owned the S12 and I also have the HM20 for reference. I highly recommend the TinHifi P1 Max Panda. It has such a great relaxed tuning, with plenty of warmth in the bass bleeding into a bit of the lower mid-range. Upper mids are dialed back, with a well extended treble. Combined with the...

That was an epic review. Your review and Akros review has me very interested in the AS24. KZ/CCA has some impressive sets as of late. I really love the CCA HM20, and I’d be interested to hear what KZ can achieve with an all BA set. Seems many agree the value and performance level is pretty high...

CCA in ear monitors Impressions Thread

CCA HM20 Review and Impressions of this budget 'Flagship' IEM (copied from discovery page post here) After some anticipation, I finally got my hands on a CCA HM20, and they did not disappoint. I had the opportunity to compare them to a range of other headphone sets such as the KBear...

    IEM Recommendation Under 60usd

@vincentshinjiru I've written a short review on the CCA HM20. https://www.head-fi.org/threads/the-discovery-thread.586909/page-5561#post-17651350 There aren't many IEMs that can pull off the upper-mid through treble range with clarity, control and accuracy, and surprisingly this budget set...

CCA HM20 Review and Impressions of this budget 'Flagship' IEM After some anticipation, I finally got my hands on a CCA HM20, and they did not disappoint. I had the opportunity to compare them to a range of other headphone sets such as the KBear Rosefinch, 7Hz Legato, S12, Cadenza, ER2XR...

The KB Ear Rosefinch very much is the poor man’s Legato, but it has more presence. As a result, the tuning of the Rosefinch is much more vivid and live sounding. Also similar to the old TFZ Live 3 in presentation which were none for their live stage like presentation . Imo, the Rosefinch is...

    The discovery thread!

Just picked up the 7Hz Legato. *chefs kiss* Early impressions, is this is a very balanced-sounding IEM... even though there is a dominant analog bass characteristic. The bass just washes over you as you sink further and further into the Legato's depths. Subterranean, yet clear, not harsh. The...

    IEM Recommendation Under 60usd

Apparently, the new Fiio JD11 is the improved Blon BL-03 many wanted. The sound is very close, but the overall build and fit is better. I've owned the BL-01, 05s, mini , all fun with the 05S being very easy on the ears - natural, organic sound. I am actually comparing the QKZ HBB Khan and the...

LETSHUOER S12 - Next big planar? (Impressions & Discussion)

It has a upper mid range lift, so there aren't any bad upper treble spikes per se. I have come to really appreciate the overall tuning of the S12 (original). Yes, it can be a bit intense, but it has clarity thanks to the planar performance. It is also imperative to get the best seal possible...

Great review @Redcarmoose . I'm not on headfi as often and now rarely purchase IEMs/headphones (I'm satiated), but will likely be making an exception for these. These are actually one of the only IEMs I'm interested in based on their tuning, build, accessories and price. As a former XBA owner...

The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

The Skullcandy Crusher Evo is okay-ish. Unfortunately, while their haptic transducer rattles, it doesn't seem to attenuate the bass frequencies well, and is somewhat 'one-note'. It can't hold a candle to a good haptic transducer such as having a SubPac. I feel having the transducer hit your...

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

ER2XR Impressions After owning the HF5 and ER4SR I finally got around to picking up an ER2XR. They are exactly what I was hoping they would be when checking out how they graph. I prefer neutral tonality and am also a basshead (or bass addict as I have a SubPac) and the ER2XR suits both tastes...

    Absolute Transparency

The closest I have got to absolute transparency was with the following setup: Focal Utopia used with Waves Abbey Road Studio 3. If you want to truly hear the 'room' and true stereo soundstage and instrument placement then spatial DSP is essential. Waves Abbey Road Studio is a professional grade...

Reply to review by 'Malfunkt' on item 'Tangzu Audio Zetian Wu'

Great review and appreciate your acknowledgement of bias. These definitely interest me, as although I have the S12 and in many respects, they are near perfect and a favourite, I wouldn't mind a touch less intensity and a bit more perceived fullness in the lower octaves.

The New Tangzu Audio Zetian Wu Planar In-Ear Monitor

Interested to hear your impressions on how the Zetain Wu compares to the S12. I'm so impressed by the S12, not just by its sound but the overall package. I am more than satisfied with the presentation of the S12, but would be good to know how Wu stacks up as it could make a good gift.

LETSHUOER S12 - Next big planar? (Impressions & Discussion)

My initial impressions posted above were really early. These are epic. The main caveat remains its incisive treble. But honestly, there are far too many sleepy-sounding headphones and iems and many in the lower price that have elevated treble can be scratchy sounding. While a bit...

LETSHUOER S12 - Next big planar? (Impressions & Discussion)

Just got a set of these in. I've been using my FH5S primarily with the UTWS3 wireless adapters, and needed a cabled in-ear to be used at home, that provided a bit more isolation than my HD660S. They are replacing both a Blessing 2 (lost) and SSR (destroyed in the wash). The SSR was very...
