Aune T1 USB Tube DAC+ SS Amp Discussion Thread ***See first post for FAQ--Updated on 02/14/15***

Quote:   No, I have not changed anything on the Aune at all, so it is providing the normal 6.3V. But, I just looked up the specs again and it is not double by far as I initially thought:   ECC88: 6.3V PCC189: 7.6V   Might explain the slightly less impressive bass as you...

Aune T1 USB Tube DAC+ SS Amp Discussion Thread ***See first post for FAQ--Updated on 02/14/15***

I received a Telefunken PCC189 today, a very cheap tube that is mostly compatible with the ECC88 but has not been fully explored by enthusiasts yet, which leads to very cheap prices. To me this tube is just as as open as the Telefunken E88CC variant. The bass is not as nice yet, but it may need...

Some impressions on what I rolled through the Aune T1 so far:   SIEMENS E88CC - German Military (BWB) Selected Stock Gold pins, Halo Getter   I read a lot about these Siemens tubes. A lot of people seem to be very fond of it. To my surprise it turned out to be my least favorite one...

Quote:   I would say yes it is. The nice thing about the Aune T1 is that the tube is used for the DAC part of the device, so you can still hook it up to higher class amp if you wish. I think its a great introduction to tube rolling and makes it very noticeable how some tubes can actually...

Aune T1 USB Tube DAC+ SS Amp Discussion Thread ***See first post for FAQ--Updated on 02/14/15***

Quote:   I had been looking into this myself too. Sadly the light inside is a special kind of SMD diode with 4 pins. It won't be easy to unsolder it. There is no switch to turn it off. The light actually has a function, though. If you turn on the Aune it waits for the tube to warm up...

**Hifiman HE-400 Impressions and Discussion Thread**

Sadly I left the velour pads with the nude DT990 at the office. If it helps, I got the pleather ones to compare at home: Right now the Beyerdynamics pad is actually slightly thicker than the pleather Hifiman pad, but they are known to get a bit thinner over time.. so what you explained might...

**Hifiman HE-400 Impressions and Discussion Thread**

To my ears they sound nearly identical to the original Hifiman Velour pads (which I both find superior to the pleather pads). I prefer the comfort, since the Beyerdynamic pads just seem to fit my ears better. I will be keeping these on the HE-400 and will have to order another set for the DT990...

**Hifiman HE-400 Impressions and Discussion Thread**

First time poster, long time lurker here. I don't know if it is common knowledge, but I just wanted to give a heads-up to anyone interested in third party pads, that the pads that Beyerdynamic sells as "replacement pads for old-style DT990" fit the HE-400 perfectly without any modding. I...
