The Astell & Kern AK240
Has anyone translated the developer menu on the AK240 yet? I really wish they'd make an SDK of some kind. As seen here: http://d.pr/i/KAUs You can get to it by going to Settings->System Information and tapping on "Model Number" 5-7 times.- bsneed

I'm confused what the fuss is re Integer Mode.
Back to answer my own question... Here's what I was missing. Apparently when a Non-Mixable physical format is listed, a virtual non-mixable integer format is listed as well based on what i've been reading the last few hours. I'll have to find a DAC that supports this and give it a shot...- bsneed

I'm confused what the fuss is re Integer Mode.
I'm going to mainly speak in the context of the Mac in this post. So, once upon a time (maybe a year ago?) I downloaded the then-GPL source to Audirvana. It just so happens that I still have it handy. I wanted to add integer-mode to my own player this evening since I see it discussed...- bsneed

The Audio Optimization Guide for Apple OS X
After reading the sample introduction page it seems suspect. Its going to have you going through your system disabling things that are actually useful, and might actually make a difference if you're on a fairly old machine. I'd also put money on this content being available all over the...- bsneed

Working on a Mac audio player app, looking for some feedback.
http://d.pr/i/rUlG What do you think about an interface like that? Imagine it slides out to the side and has your various libraries (iTunes, directories, spotify, etc) in there.- bsneed

Thanks so much for the feedback! See comments below... Interesting re the difference in Sound. I haven't noticed that. Many of the other players I can hear some distinctions between them, but Fidelia sounds identical to me using a Benchmark HDR. Granted, I don't have any...- bsneed

MAC: what audio player should I use? (No iTunes)
You've actually got quite a few to choose from. Here's the ones I know about. Decibel (http://sbooth.org/Decibel/) Fidelia (http://www.audiofile-engineering.com/fidelia/) - i think this one is pretty buggy, but other people seem to like it. Sonora (http://getsonora.com) Vox...- bsneed

Working on a Mac audio player app, looking for some feedback.
Heya guys, I finally got most things put back together. Here's the latest build: http://d.pr/f/3EUm It now supports various additional file formats (.flac, .mod, .ogg, etc) as well as gapless playback. I've got to rewrite how it plays from external USB devices still, but...- bsneed

Quote: Thanks for this. Your suggestion on gapless got me thinking, and I went back and looked at SFBAudioEngine. I picked up Dark Side of the Moon to test with (great album so far, not sure why i hadn't listened to it before), but between Track2->Track3 it was extremely obvious what...- bsneed

Thanks for that, and the test case. Admittedly, I hadn't thought of that at all. Know of a player on the mac offhand that does this properly? I tunes says it support gapless iirc.- bsneed

Working on a Mac audio player app, looking for some feedback.
Quote: Its for OS X only. I swore off Microsoft when I left OQO way back when (I wrote their video drivers/system stuff) and have tried to not mess with it since. Not a dig at Microsoft, just for me things were greener elsewhere. I don't plan on having multiple themes, maybe color...- bsneed

Working on a Mac audio player app, looking for some feedback.
Quote: Thanks! I think its pretty good progress so far as well. It does what I need it to at this point, even if it still needs alot of work. I ended up using a library by a guy named Kok Chen who used to work at Apple. Its pretty nice compared to many of the other wrappers...- bsneed

Thanks a ton for the feedback guys. I think you're right re the multiple formats. I just got started digging into flac a little earlier. Playing back things core audio supports is pretty easy and very different from playing a non-native format. I'll keep you guys posted on how it goes. Any...- bsneed

After doing some reading, i think the question re FLAC support may be answered as a 'yes' thanks to the "How many songs are in your library" thread here. Seems people are moving to that instead of worrying about iTunes compatibility.- bsneed
