The mS is an Advanced Segment DAC (PCM1793). Does that mean it's still D-S (Delta Sigma)? I still use it for my stereo setup at home and love it 

JPlay is the joke. I know it bothers people that perfect audio quality cannot be improved on.

Handle them gently, wrap the wire gently. You don't know the care habits of the people whose units have died. Of the IEMs I own, they all still work. I think the more fragile headphones like the BA200 and ones with weaker strain relief are susceptible to careless owners.

By own power supply, I mean something like the Bifrost. Anything beats USB hub powered, right? :O

Is there anything more like a desktop unit and not a dongle (it doesn't have to power headphones). I use the line-out on the mS. I thought having its own power supply would be an obvious upgrade.

  It's there, but I have a Bryston B60. I've only been using the microStreamer's line-out to the amp. I don't need it for headphones

There is a reason why BAs have less bass (in a single driver design), but that's a good question as to whether the quality of bass sounds different.

AAC is a lossy codec, and FLAC is preferred over APE because it is in active development and is faster encoding and decoding

I think just stopping the track is enough for exclusive access.

I won't support HRT as a Kickstarter. Well-established companies should not be funded.

Lowering the buffer to 25-50 ms fixes problems like that
