Just out of curiosity, what would you put in best in class for the Hemp? I actually like the stock F but am always up for experimenting.

Since there's a lot of talk here about the Hemp, I just posted some quick thoughts using the DF Cobalt with it (and only it) in the portable amp section, in the event anyone ever considered pairing the two on the go.

Thanks for verifying. I haven't had a Grado since the RS1 and SR325 of olden days, but this reminds me of them for sure. A little more bass and less treble than I remember, but that could also be the pads.

I just got a pair of Hemps delivered today so letting them burn in. I notice there is a decent amount of creaking around the housing when swiveling. I assume this is normal given the material?

"balanced, not bass heavy, but not missing the bass".   Sounds like you are headed in the right direction considering Ety's (I would use that same phrase to describe my HF3's).  You could probably find the HF5 for $100 (i see a pair from Amazon right now for $97), they are a step above the MC5.

Another vote for HF ety's...about as analytical as you can get at that price.  I love mine.

I listen to a LOT of Floyd and some Radiohead on my Ety HF3's...sounds great fwiw.

Add me to those praising this IEM (I just got the HF3, so same thing).  i get a comfortable seal with the large tri-flanges.  The etymotic iphone app is also a nice touch, it has come in handy probably 10 times in the past week.

Broke down and bought a pair (it looked like nobody had even bought 1 in the past few days, so sad).  These things are just incredible.  I don't remember my ER-6's being this good although it's been years.

Must be a YMMV.  I never really understand the clearance thing with stores like Target and BB.  Online stuff retails for MSRP and then you go to the store and then, in this case, there were about 12 hf3's just sitting there on clearance.

For whatever reason, they are on clearance at my local BB for $95 (sitting right next to mc3 for $74).  Are these being discontinued or something?

Amped impressions: Ipod Touch 2G -> Sendstation Line Out -> Total Bithead There is more bass there compared to straight out of the 2G but still less than the PX100 (which almost gives me too much bass when amped). Mids and highs are still there as well as detail, and a great overall sound...

Some initial unamped impressions using a Ipod Touch 2G: 1. It takes a little more juice from the Ipod to get the same volume on the HD238 (not a lot more, but it is noticeable, PX 100's were at about 60-65%). For me, volume is at about 75% for the HD238's. 2. The HD238 seems more balanced...

Really my main reason for burning in is I already have a well burned in PX100 and SR-80, so comparing a brand new pair is probably not the same comparison as opposed to after a few days. I also picked up a HD428 so I'll be posting some thoughts on those too.
