I believe 320kbps AAC is considered transparent.

Headphones that are the benchmark for objective measurements

Quote: I am downloading some of these. I dislike the format they are though and wish they were viewable in a web browser. Also, if it's objective, wouldn't opinions and subjective preferences have little meaning?

Headphones that are the benchmark for objective measurements

I have my subjective listening preferences (Don't we all?) but I would like to know which headphones are the best at measurements such as CSD, Square Wave Response, Frequency Response (+ HRTF?), etc. For example, many audiophiles claim Stax is the holy grail, but from some measurements...

Audio technica AD900x, Sony MDR-CD900ST, Hifiman He-400 for Kpop, Jpop, Cpop ?

AKG Q701? I am not sure as I can't understand what you are saying and I don't listen to J-pop. I own an HD650 and I've always though the Q701 are a good alternative to it.

Haven't heard both. But the Panasonic seems better going by reviews.

    AKG Q701 vs Hifiman he-400

Quote: Because the HD650 has a midbass hump, you need to do some serious EQ compensation for the HD650 to get clear results. The midbass can veil the sub-bass, mids and treble is what I have found. I have owned one for many years. The Q701 (I don't own these but my friend does) has higher...

Is the Philips SHE3580 'BASSHEAD' Level?

Perhaps you should try the FX101 or the FX1X for more bass. The SHE3580 is competent in the bass department, but if you want extreme bass the Xtreme Xplosives would give you that.

    Budget IEMs review--Panasonic RP-HJE355 posted 18 February 2013

I bought it when it was priced at $21. I still prefer the SHE3590. The MH1C is probably my 2nd favorite budget model, It is somewhat too smooth for my tastes, I prefer the sparkle of the SHE3590.

Need help rounding out my cheapo collection

Quote: The SHE3580 (or SHE3590) are far superior to the JVC FX40. I did not like the FX40, it has a very unnatural timbre. I can tolerate bright highs, but I can't tolerate when it sounds strange.

Anyone with a large experience of IEMs, please help me decide... (Hear me out)

JVC Xtreme Xplosives FX1X These have the most bass of the IEMs that I own. I also own the FX101 and the SHE3590, but the FX1X will give OP exactly what he wants.

    Multi-IEM Review - 352 IEMs compared (Pump Audio Earphones added 04/03/16 p. 1106)

Got my SHE3590 (The 80 wasn't available). I am highly impressed. Good sub-bass and mid-bass while still sounding clean and the best part is that when you listen to music that isn't very bass heavy, they don't sound muffled. I also bought other budget models but they weren't as good.

    Budget IEMs review--Panasonic RP-HJE355 posted 18 February 2013

Interesting thread. I bought most of the budget IEMs and found the SHE3590 to be the best. I'm not too anal about sound quality, I just love bass with decent clarity.

    Philips she3580 vs Panasonic hje355

The SHE3580 (I have the SHE3590) is better in my opinion. The HJE355 is a little warm in tonality while the SHE3580/90 is more exciting and has better clarity.

    Multi-IEM Review - 352 IEMs compared (Pump Audio Earphones added 04/03/16 p. 1106)

Thank you for the response. It must take a lot of dedication and time to do these reviews and answer questions. I think I will go with the SHE3580. I am not enjoying the FX1X and I suspect the FX101 might be a similar experience for me. I also read about the GR99 and M9, but I won't be able...

    Multi-IEM Review - 352 IEMs compared (Pump Audio Earphones added 04/03/16 p. 1106)

This thread and this forum is quite addictive. I am looking for a cheap ($25 and under) headphones with tons of sub-bass and decent clarity. I ordered the FX1X and I find them too bloated (interesting that we share the same opinion, Joker). My choices are: JVC FX101 Philips SHE3580...
