I noticed that with the O2 amp set on 2.5x gain,  it doesn't seem to have "enough" juice to power DT880 600ohm. Anyone else with an O2 amp have similar experiences?

Paired a ODAC+o2 amp with the Takstar.   After initial comparisons, the sound signature of the Takstar is close the dt880. My complaint about the Takstar is that the treble is somewhat on the bright side but nothing a little EQ can't fix.

Would a 3.5mm --> RCA do as well as a regular RCA cable?
