If you live in a dry climate, it can get  a lot of static electricity. I threw mine in the garbage can.

If static is possible culprit, stay away from that plastic cover that Stax sells.

I got mine yesterday! I didn't get a change to listen, but I'll spend some time this weekend. I will be using JJs tubes, and testing with my HD800 and LCD-XC.

Any recommendations for good speakers to pair with the 2A3x4? It seems like most of the small monitors that I am interested on like the KEF LS50 are very inefficient and require quite a bit more power. At the end, I might just end up using it as pre-amp.

Well, I hope it retains the sweetness of the "old" LCD3. Having owned both the X and the LCD3, I would be pretty upset to want to buy an LCD3 from Audeze just to get the X voicing. The wood rings are nice but not worth an extra $300.
