The Open Pandora: An ultimate portable player?

I liked your review, it does seem hard to believe that the Pandora actually sounds better than the Dragonfly.  I'd like to see some objective measurements, like recording the output and comparing to the original signal.  An "inferior" DAC can sound better for lossy tracks, as it does not make...

The Open Pandora: An ultimate portable player?

Quote:   Wow, I'm very surprised and pleased also!   Maybe our darling Pandora does have a valid claim to being a top-notch portable player, then, considering all the rave reviews of the dragonfly.  Good work, mweston!  :)   Prediction: some sceptics will doubt your neutrality or...

The Open Pandora: An ultimate portable player?

I'm listening to Ronald Jenkees "Fifteen Fifty" on my Pandora with the Shure earbuds.   Talk about high definition, it doesn't get much better than this in my experience!   I highly recommend Ronald Jenkees' three albums. All of his music is totally awesome... even his raps!   He...

cool, you got a new hifi toy :D  nice to hear the Pandora is not totally left in the dust by it ...

Razor edge looks okay, it's like 2 * size of Pandora so not going to fit in a pocket that's for sure, might get sore arms holding it! Can run PC games which could be good.  I'm guessing battery life would be only 2 or 3 hours gaming.  I'd just use a regular laptop.

Agreed, the NVIDIA thing looks interesting too.

New Nvidia handheld android gaming device... will this crash and burn?

That would be pretty cool, sort of like the Pandora (but more powerful, no keyboard, not so open I guess...).   I'd probably go for a phone + iControlPad 2 controller, rather than a dedicated gaming thing. But, it looks good.  It'd be cool to see one that can run windows games.

It will certainly attract some positive attention, I can say that from experience... by the way, thanks for everyone for posting so much, and helping me draw attention to this wonderful and stylish little device!  :)

MY post is more beautiful than your post.   Here's a more relevant picture, a handsome Pandora running Rockbox:

You can decorate your Pandora to look how you please... here's some inspiration.  (Art by Asmo)       http://pandoria.org/gallery/asmo-cases/     Also shows some of the systems Pandora can emulate! (I've been working on the BBC Micro emulator.)

Doesn't look boring like an iphone, anyway.   Mine get plenty of attention when I use them in public.   People first impression is that it's a 3DS, then they get a good look at it, and seems to impress them.   Quote: How can it be "classy" when every second person has one? ...

Shure SE535: Reviews and First Impressions Thread

I bought some Shure 535s, a year or so ago.  I'm very happy with them:   - great sound - strong construction - thick, strong cables - comfortable - block outside noise   They were expensive, but I do not regret the purchase, that's for sure!

Lobotomy is "out of date", and I don't want one.  Different logic. It seems logic is not your strong suit.  Do you have a strong suit?   Take note of my avatar. I can be a merciless combatant.

Quote:   Yeah my ASUS dynamically clocks up to 3.3GHz on demand, but it had trouble with that game Shadow of the Colossus. It's a particularly heavy game.  I heard it runs slow sometimes even on the real PS2 hardware. I guess the Pandora 2 will struggle with it at best!

The Open Pandora: An ultimate portable player?

Quote:   I have a powerful gaming laptop which is an ASUS ROG G75VW.  It has an 8 core Intel 64-bit processor at ~2.3GHz, but can only just emulate PS2 games such as "Shadow of the Colossus" to a playable level with PCSX2, it's choppy.  Perhaps the emulator does not make good use of the...

Haters will hate!   These people developed their own computer, with an unique feature-set!  It is an awesome achievement.  Even if you don't much like the end result, I'm asking you to respect that achievement.  Or perhaps other people will lose respect for you, and your achievements...

The Open Pandora: An ultimate portable player?

As for "out of date", I have something to say about that.   It's 4 years since Pandora was designed, and the prototypes built.  Pandora remains the best and only device of its type.   You can find a phone with a faster CPU (irrelevant for audio);   What you won't find, is any other...

The Open Pandora: An ultimate portable player?

I see no reason at all to diss this unique, indie product.   I would not buy a Pandora just to play music.  If you want a hifi that fits in your pocket, it's overkill for that.   But, for someone like me who loves music, gaming and coding, this is the best pocket device bar none. ...

The Open Pandora: An ultimate portable player?

I'm not wanting to limit your speech, I'm asking for some respect and civility in this thread. Can you handle it?   Is it really necessary to hate and disrespect this indie device?   Open Pandora is not "junk", and its plain trolling to say so.   Did you create anything good? ...
