I believe that it did, however these new ones are much much softer. 

Just for you I took off the headband on my dt880 and used it with my q701.  It can kinda sorta wrap around the akg's headband and stay put using the outer buttons.  Its not gonna wrap around however.  It might not look the best on top because of this.  Also it might not work with a big head...

  The longer I listen the general sound characteristic is the same.  Something about the imaging might be a tad different not for the better but still satisfying.  The soundstage might actually be wider very slight.  The midrange to me feels a SMIDGE more recessed and slightly less revealing...

TBH the k240s is already pretty thick and emphasized on the midbass although not so much sub bass.  I'd suggest the dt770 pro or dt990 for bass.  The 990 has a wide soundstage as does the 770 for being closed.  I own the 880 pro myself but its bass probably would not satisfy you as they are...
