FiiO E17 "ALPEN" - First Impression + Final Thought

I have a question regarding the non portable use of the E17, when plugged in via USB and USB CHARGE set to OFF, the battery decharges. Audio input is optical, not USB. I thought I could keep it powered via USB and do not use the battery at all. Although the lifetime of one time seems to be...

    portable amp+dac - 150$

Just a guess, my e17 came with an uncharged battery. You might want to fully charge it and then see if the problem persists. Mine kept shutting off all the time when I wanted to start using it right out of box. Give it a try and tell us if it worked!

    Fiio E17 problem

Quote: If you think the problem is windows based, this won't be neccesary. You might try to deinstall all your USB devices from windows and then reinstall them or rather just wait until you plug them in the next time and for windows to install them by itself. Guides can be found here...

AMP + DAC for around 200$ needed

Quote: I thought so, was worth a try ;-) If you don't mind could you explain me what impedance you were looking for? Or does this forums have something like the 1x1 of basics?     Quote: save cash for something else later or just because the e17 will work fine / there is no real...

AMP + DAC for around 200$ needed

Quote: I don't own any other audio device than my headphones. When I owned the DX I never used the Dolby HP feature, the echo that went along with it wasn't worth it. I don't really need surround in my headphones. As stated in my other thread (which is the reason for this thread), Im just...

AMP + DAC for around 200$ needed

An audiocard is now difficult to place in my PC, since I RMAed my GPU and due to problems during repair / delays I got a 580 (from MSI, bigger than reference) back (what a luck :) ) there is not much space on my board anymore. This card is just, huge. Plus, Im not sure if the crappy bass, for...

AMP + DAC for around 200$ needed

The hud mx1?   Seems to be hard to get / could be a bit expensive, 179$ without shipping, duties, ... I'll have to find out what this will end up at exactly, however it seems a good choice from the 2 reviews I read so far.

AMP + DAC for around 200$ needed

Hello everyone,   I currently own an Ultrasone HFI-580 and a fiio e17. Since my usage is desktop only I will change my e17 for a stationay solution. Could you give me some advice what Amp / Dac combination will do fine? I planned to spend around 200$ (150€). I mainly use my headphones to...

FiiO E17 for desktop use only

Thank you! That's what  I wanted to know! So I gues I'll return my e17 and get that last extra bit of quality. Your prices refer to used devices? Would you mind to give me a combo of new devices? Since I don't like ebay that much and I would be willing to pay a bit more when I can purchase...

FiiO E17 for desktop use only

Thanks for you fast reply, but this didn't really answer if there is a "need" to go for a static device over a portable. Size doesn't matter for me, im just curious if devices designed for desktop use really sound better since the e17 seems to deliver quite good results for a reasonable price. I...

    portable amp+dac - 150$

E17 versus the Ibasso D-Zero Built and dimensions wise, I like the D-Zero better. It’s smaller, slimmer, uses fully analog controls, and is lighter. However, when it comes to the sound, again I’m for the Fiio’s warmer, fuller sounding sound. For more details on the D-Zero comparison, you can...

FiiO E17 for desktop use only

Quote: I thought so too, since my onboard audio card sounded horrible.   Quote: Mmh should I go for the 14 days return service or will the difference not be that much? Maybe you could give me 1 or 2 thoughts on alternatives and I'll figure out what's best for me?

Is it hard to build a beta 22

I think this solely depends on your personal skills. building your own PC for example is consireded quite easy, however if you go for a screwdriver and come back with a wrench building your own PC could get kinda hard. http://www.amb.org/audio/beta22/ Check the  What skills and tools are...

    Diablo 3 boring?

So what? Im not that much of a gamer but 200hours sound pretty much to me compared to some of the latest games I enjoyed for 4 or max. 10 hours. GTA SA Multiplayer entertained me for almost 800 hours over the years :) my friends quit D3 after like 50 hours, it's not my genre so I didn't even...

FiiO E17 for desktop use only

Quote: Any Input how to check and/or fix this?   Quote: Im not quite sure if i got you right on this one. From what i found out I think the E9 /E09k is just an amp, so I am definitly better off with my DAC/Amp 2in1 device? So an e17 is a good choice even if I dont plan on going...

FiiO E17 for desktop use only

Hey,   i am rather new to the world of audio and would be glad if you had some advive for me. My equipment consists of an ultrasone 580 and the fiio e17. I am pretty content with what I have, except for the first time I wanted to watch a bluray. When selecting DTS or Dolby as mode I just get...

FiiO E17 "ALPEN" - First Impression + Final Thought

Hey I am new to the forums and own the E17 for a very short time. Since I couldn't find anything helpful with google, I thought I might ask here since I read a thread from someone complaining. 16bit / 44100 hz would be the ONLY working selection for him.   When I choose 16 bit / 44100 oder...
