How do my laptop built in speakers sound so good?

It probably isn't. There is a complete loss of bass and you still call it great? Nope nope nope.

What quality are the files streamed at on Grooveshark and how does it work?

Grooveshark quality is the worst you can get. The users upload their content which are mostly in lossy formats. Then grooveshark reencodes that to 192 or 128. Not to mention the possibility that the user uploaded track might have been already transcoded. Transcoding from a lossy source to a...

    High BitRate Internet Radio

Spotify Premium. $10 a month. Classical music could be quite lacking but the quality is simply outstanding. It's variable OGG equivalent to 320.

BLIND TEST: 128kbps mp3 vs Lossless

128 vs 320 might be distinguishable, but what about 320 vs FLAC? That would be interesting.

    FLAC vs. 320 Mp3

No, unless you have good audio setups. 320 sounds somewhat different, but only on $5000+ quality sound system.   Or, you might need transcodes for your mobile devices and the storage is not large enough to hold 320s. Then you'd need to re-rip in FLAC, transcoding to V0 or V2.

    Loss-less is it worth it?

Will you be able to hear a difference between FLAC and well done MP3? Probably not. But will you be able to hear a difference between FLAC and badly encoded MP3? Certainly. FLAC, if you can afford it.

Portable sound card needed - something that can play LP quality.

Also do I need a DAC and an amp for it? The computer amplicates so much that 12% volume is more than enough. Do I need an amp if I start using external sound card?

Portable sound card needed - something that can play LP quality.

Hello, more and more I played LP rips on PC I started to notice that my PC sounds horrible, probably because of the sound card. So I tried syncing with my iPad and it sounds so much better. While I'm generally happy with my iPad sound, iPad doesn't allow syncing LP quality songs.   Therefore...

    Faulty HD600's?

SUURE. I bought HD598 and when I listened to it out of the box, bass was somewhat ipod stock earphone-ish and everything was harsh. I even thought of returning them. Well, after 70 hours of burn in it sounded great. Start playing some flac files with wide frequency and you should hear differences.

Online streaming service with best sound quality

I'm looking for one-click online music streaming site (paid) that has the best sound quality. I enjoy listening to FLACs, but sometime I feel too lazy looking for FLAC downloads and running a test to see if it's really lossless. Which one is the best?

48 Hour burned in HD598 can't beat PX100ii with 500+ hours of usage

Yeah, the sound is more relaxing than PX100ii which sounds like rock concerts.. Maybe I'm too used to PX100ii sound.

48 Hour burned in HD598 can't beat PX100ii with 500+ hours of usage

Hello, I bought HD598 because I believed it would sound much much better than my 1 year old PX100ii. I've been actively using PX100ii over 500 hours and it sounds fantastic. But HD598 with 48 hour burn in is definitely "listenable", but the sound just can't beat PX100ii. Even though the sound is...
