Sorry about that! I just went to the menu and changed the gain. (I didn't know it existed).    Another issue with my headphones is that I do not hear items that are panned left specifically. I'm not sure if I just got a dud pair of headphones or if I just can't power them completely.

My gain is actually at 42, and the sound is still VERY muddy. The lows are absolutely atrocious and I can't use them for my intended purposes (music production). Kick drums sound flat, dull, and anything below about 150 Hz essentially sounds like trash.   I was hoping not to spend too much...

    The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread

Hey guys,   I've asked this before, but it's been about a year and a half since I got my DT880's. Unfortunately, I can't actually use them as I don't really have a DAC/Amplifier and they sound awful right now without one.   My main uses for this headphone are for production of music straight...

    The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread

Hey guys!   I ordered my DT880 250 Ohms a few months ago, and have finally gotten around to trying them (I was out of the country for a while).   I have a question regarding driving the 250 ohms and the frequency response in general. I'm using the Fiio e17 to drive...

Quote:   My only problem with having such a long break in time is that I won't get to return it if I don't like 'em. As far as 'muddier' goes, I think I've used the wrong set of words (and this is the complete opposite of what I mean by 'muddier'). I recently saw them described as having...

    Fiio E17 to power monitors?

My monitors are active monitors, so I didn't foresee this being an issue.

Hey guys,   So, a few months ago, my package containing replacement SE425's was stolen. As I'm looking for a replacement pair of headphones, I decided to *maybe* branch out and look for a few other models. Not wanting to spend a ton of money, I wound up with the GR07's from Vsonic. At first...

    Fiio E17 to power monitors?

Hey guys,   So I recently ended up getting DT880's, but unfortunately, my first DAC (Saffire 6 USB) was unable to power the 250 ohm version. Due to this, I was recommended the Fiio series to power my new headphones. However, I did also want to power my monitors as well (Yamaha HSM80's). In...

Beyerdynamic DT880 (Choosing the right resistance)

*bump* anybody have any suggestions for the sound? My headphones sound OK through them, but if they can't power my monitors, I don't really have a use for them and would like to return them.

Beyerdynamic DT880 (Choosing the right resistance)

Quote: Hey, so I went ahead and bout the E17 DAC. I bought the 3.5 to dual 6.3mm (but I got the adapter off monoprice). Unfortunately, I seem to get god awful sound quality with it. The E17 is known to be decent, correct? If so, do you think it's possible my adapter is just crap when hooked...

Beyerdynamic DT880 (Choosing the right resistance)

Quote:   I was worried about any sort of diminished quality going from the 3.5 output to a dual 1/4" adapter (as the amp only has a single 3.5 output I would have to buy a 3.5 mm to stereo 1/4" adapter.   Also, I have 2 x Yamaha HSM80's as monitors.

Beyerdynamic DT880 (Choosing the right resistance)

Quote: Would I lose any sort of signal as the monitors do run via 1/4" jacks. I'm mostly afraid of the monitors not getting quite the signal they would be getting from my current DAC.

Beyerdynamic DT880 (Choosing the right resistance)

Quote: Looking at the E10 right now; my only worry is that I wouldn't be able to plug in my stereo monitors (Yamaha HSM80's) to them. I'd have to go back to my Focusrite.

Beyerdynamic DT880 (Choosing the right resistance)

Quote:   I have a pair of MDR-V6's, but they really aren't very good for what I'm using them for (electronic music production/mixing). I do have monitors, but unfortunately my room in college isn't ideal for something my monitors would thrive in, thus forcing me to get some headphones to...

++ FULL-SIZE HEADPHONE RECOMMENDATIONS THREAD++ CLOSED: Please post a thread in the Introductions, Help and Advice forum

Hey guys, longtime reader, once again.   I have a DAC (Focusrite Saffire 6 USB) through which my headphones will be powered. I produce electronic music (trance & progressive house), and I was looking into getting some headphones to mix/master a little bit. Obviously this isn't ideal, I have...

Beyerdynamic DT880 (Choosing the right resistance)

Hey guys,   Just a quick question regarding the DT880's and how much power they need (specifically for the 600 ohm version).   My current DAC is the Focusrite Saffire 6 USB which has the following specs on the headphone output:     Headphone Outputs Frequency Response: 20Hz-20KHz...

    USB External Sound Card Options

Hey guys,   Just a newbie here stopping by asking for suggestions. I'm currently running a Focusrite 6 USB which powers my Yamaha HS80M's. Unfortuantely the Saffire 6 doesn't work well with OSX Lion and often crashes Logic and in turn loses volume forcing me to reboot the computer and often...
