FLAC to AAC vs. WAV to AAC

What I meant was if there was a way to reduce a FLAC file without losing the quality at all.

FLAC to AAC vs. WAV to AAC

Is there a way to retain lossless audio quality while reducing file size?

Quote:   Oh, I see, thanks. So FLAC takes up more space than MP3s?

Quote:   Wow that was a quick response! I actually forgot to mention I'm looking for a pair of closed circumaural headphones since these will be used as for everyday use as well. But that is definitely a pair I'll consider when I decide to buy a pair for just home use.

Looking for a pair of entry level headphones with good bass extension, and a balanced sound; mids are pleasant and highs aren't harsh or fatiguing. Budget of $200. Comfort and isolation are important - hopefully not tremendously heavy and the cable is detachable.

FLAC to AAC vs. WAV to AAC

Quote:   I see, thank you for the help. Another question, if some of my music are FLACs and I listen to all my music via a pair of headphones that are moderately detailed/revealing, will there be an SQ difference?

Quote:   Thanks for the description, should the headphones get warm, is it better if I take it off and let it rest? I've heard the bass on the DJ100s are more rumbling, is this true? I like having a slight rumble to the bass.

Hey there, I'm looking at the Shures as well. By what you've described, the 840s aren't analytical though, right? I would want things to sound fun, but not overwhelmingly so.

FLAC to AAC vs. WAV to AAC

I have all my music as MP3s in my iTunes library - will converting to AAC do anything for the SQ?

Looking for balance with slight bass.

Quote:   Can an iPod nano drive them easily without an amp? This is such a tough decision, all of them have qualities I want. Is there any way to extend the bass of the SRH840 like the KNS 8400? How are the trebles on the Shure's by the way?

Looking for balance with slight bass.

I live in Canada and so the selection here at Best Buy is rather limited. At least in my city. But I'm pretty much debating the DJ200, KNS8400 or SRH840. Any ideas which one fits best without use of amp, at least in the near future?

If I weren't able to get an amp and my source is only an iPod nano, what would you suggest?

Looking for balance with slight bass.

I read about the HM5s as well, but the cans are just too large for my liking - especially since I have small ears and a small head.

Looking for balance with slight bass.

Are there any headphones you suggest that give it a warmer sound than the KNS8400 without going over my budget? The KRKs are my first choice right now but I'm just looking for more options.

Looking for balance with slight bass.

So I listen to rock, pop, jazz, r&b and kpop, they won't sound cold right? And for female vocalists nothing will sound shrill or harsh right?

Looking for balance with slight bass.

Would you say the 8400 are more analytical than warm sounding? Can you describe how the bass sounds? As well, how is the build, I read about the cable feeling cheap.

Looking for balance with slight bass.

Thank you for the suggestion but the price is rather steep. :( Are there any others?
  19. K

    Which headphones should I get?

I'd go for the ATH-M50 if you are looking for bass response and aren't expecting too much in the mids. This isn't to say their mids are poor; it's more like there are other cans with better response in that frequency range.

Looking for balance with slight bass.

Are there any headphones within the same price range or a little higher that rival these? And how much does an E10 cost, I live in Canada, would I use an L9 cable to connect it? I read that many use that cable.

Looking for balance with slight bass.

In terms of bringing out vocals, imaging, and instrument separation, how does the KNS 8400 do? Sorry for all the questions, I just want to be sure about my purchase. Thanks for your help and patience!

Looking for balance with slight bass.

I see, so if i get the E10 as a desktop amp will it make a difference or would it be smarter to save up for something better? Between the Shure SRH840 and KNS8400 which is better suited for my preferences? Or are there better within my budget?
  23. K

Looking for balance with slight bass.

I meant 2lbs as in the headphone only. I still find the E11 kind of heavy, so if anything, I'd rather have an amp that sits on my desk and hopefully headphones that won't make me crave for an amp while on the go with my iPod.

Looking for balance with slight bass.

Someone recommended the E11 and another an O2, which would best? And have you heard the SRH840 before? Can you draw a comparison?

Looking for balance with slight bass.

I read that they are quite analytical. And I use an Asus N61 so the sound card is not that great.
