Schiit Gungnir DAC
I got the same response from the people at Schiit too - who seem like very honest people but of course would rather have me buy the Gungnir... but they do seem trustworthy judging from their no nonsense description of their products. Someone at tech support at Schiit sent me an e-mail and said...- m50man

Schiit Gungnir DAC
So using the fully upgraded Gungnir in non-balanced mode is still better than the Bifrost? IE: A fully upgraded Gungnir in non-balanced mode isn't exactly the same as a Bifrost right? Because if it is the EXACT same, I may just go with the Bifrost (since I am not using balanced amp or headphones)- m50man

Schiit Gungnir DAC
How big is the difference in sound quality between the Gungnir and the Bifrost Uber with gen 2 USB upgrades? I have ordered myself a Lyr 2 and a Gungnir, but I've waited 3 weeks now and there is no end in sight for the wait on the Gungnir. I just spoke with Schiit customer service about...- m50man

Mad Lust Envy's Headphone Gaming Guide: (8/18/2022: iFi GO Blu Review Added)
Don't expect good sound quality from a gaming headset. I wouldn't even expect average quality to be honest. If you're looking for good sound quality buy a good pair of headphones. I just recently purchased the AKG K712 pro's for gaming on my PS4... and it is just ridiculously good. Feels...- m50man

Schiit Gungnir DAC
I was reading an old Gungnir thread where they mentioned A V-link 92 and how much it improved the Gungnir performance. Anyone know what that is and what it's purpose is ?- m50man

so you rock them gently back and forth while pulling up, and then they should just come out? Is there any turning of the tubes necessary in a clockwise or counter clockwise motion?- m50man

Schiit Gungnir DAC
I think I've settled on the Gungnir DAC and the Lyr 2 for my amp. I realize I could just go with the 2nd gen Bifrost for my DAC, but I want to be futureproof. I may have an amp or headphones in the future that use balanced so the Gungnir provides me with that flexibility. Wondering though...- m50man

Suggestions for a better amp/dac ($500-1000 and under)
You are correct. But the Gungnir has not only the balanced outputs, but all of the other necessary outputs, including the RCAs to plug into the Lyr 2. And from what I have read, it is simply their best DAC in terms of sound quality, particularly compared to the Bifrost. I don't mind...- m50man

Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers
The Telefunken E88CC/692 tubes look pretty nice. What is their sound signature like? If you could give your best shot at describing how they sound compared to the stock Lyr 2 tubes that would be greatly appreciated reddog. Also, is there somewhere I can look that has all of the information...- m50man

That looks awesome, but very expensive and out of my price range I think. I am trying to decide between: 1) purchasing a Schiit Gungnir for my DAC - I hear it is a phenomenal DAC for the price + then purchasing a separate amp (Lyr 2, asgard 2, etc... or another brand from Schiit entirely...- m50man

Schiit Gungnir DAC
Any suggestions on the best amp to pair with the Gungnir?? Right now I am looking at the Lyr 2 - my heart was set on the Mjolnir, but I am unable to use with my AKG K712 Pro's as those headphones are unbalanced, they just use a regular headphone jack.... I have a couple concerns with...- m50man

Mjolnir + Gungnir
So since Mjolnir only has a balanced headphone output I am unable to use the AKG K712 pro's with it, unless I send them somewhere to get them re-cabled for balanced operation. I wonder how a Gungnir + some other amp combo would compare to the Wa7 fireflies unit with upgraded tube...- m50man

Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers
How does one go about changing the tubes in a Lyr 2? Also I am looking for suggestions on a tube upgrade from the stock Lyr 2 - looking for something with great detail soundstage and airiness but with a nice strong low end if that's possible.....- m50man

Mjolnir + Gungnir
Hey guys.. I know there are many people on these forums who just love Schiit. I have the AKG K712 pro headphones. Right now the amp/dac solution I am using is the FIIO E17 - don't get me wrong it is a great little unit and a good value for the price, but it definitely leaves room to be...- m50man

Schiit Gungnir DAC
So the DAC on the Gungnir would definitely be better than the Wa7 for the AKG K712 pro's then you think? Also, would I be able to use it with a simple usb output from my computer? Just trying to figure out how to use this, looks like tons of inputs and outputs and I am new to this stuff. A...- m50man

Schiit Gungnir DAC
Could I use the Gungnir DAC with my laptop through a simple usb plug? I have been considering buying the Wa7 Fireflies amp/dac combo by Woo Audio but I am not sure if the quality will be that great (from the DAC). Would you guys recommend instead going with the Gungnir + amp? I am using...- m50man

I will have to check when I get home about my computer's audio outputs. I should also note that I am looking for great detail and soundstaging first and foremost, and a good low end would be an added bonus. Also, I would be willing to stretch my budget if the quality could be justified...- m50man

JDS Labs C5/C5D (pg96) portable amp/amp+DAC
How is this unit compared to a FIIO E17? I am finding the E17 to be lacking on clarity, depth, soundstage etc on my AKG K712 pro's. I am also interested in how this unit also compares to ALO the Island or even a desktop combo such as Asgard 2 + Bifrost- m50man
