I'd say wait for the Mjolnir, or pick up a B22 I hear those are amazing w/ 8 gain though, but 5 gain should suffice IMHO.   or if you aren't on a budget get yourself a nice litle bookshelf amp and get some spades / bananas hook it up should work fairly well ^^^ what magick man said.

I've used the SM3 which is quite a bit over your price range, but I've heard the sm2 is sometimes preferred over the SM3 and is 150$ less.
