I have the exact same issue. When I rotate the headphone jack the audio will come back in. Its really annoying and only started recently.

what kind of speakers?    I find the imaging on nearfield monitors better than headphones. It also depends on how you set them up in a room. Headphones will usually take that out of the equation of room acoustics which can drastically change the image of the sound.
