Just got these in yesterday. First impressions are good. I haven't had much time with them but I'll be running them up against my SA5k this weekend.

I head the shipping department where I work and we get this all the time. Usually UPS covers $100 of the item unless you ask for extra coverage.    But...it's their discretion on whether the package was "packed properly". If they decide it wasn't (it's usually not), they don't have to pay you...

Sometimes utilitarian looks good to people. I for one like the look of the Stax Lambda series (except in that brown lol). Kinda how a Land Rover Defender looks good and so does a Ferrari 458, just in their own ways.

I just hope I get the chance for my wallet to recover first!

Not exactly "studio monitors" but the Audio Technica PRO700MK2, Philips Fidelio L1, and Beyerdynamic COP can all be had for around $150 and come with removable cables, all with standard 3.5mm on both ends.

Yeah I've only had mine for a day or so but I already like them much better than the HD700. I think the logo would look better in a silver too but I think the AD1000X logo is in silver already. Gotta diversify lol

Despite my previous posts about liking ultra modern headphones like the Hd600 and SA5000, I really like the AD2000X from Audio Technica. Awesomely made and put together too.

I can understand that. I had a pair of DT990s and they were quite nice to look at. Very well put together too. 

Didn't know metal could break that way   I've dropped them from my lap but nothing serious.    I like this style. HD800 would be up there too.

I don't find the SA5000 to be any more fragile than the other headphones I've used. The MA900 is another story though. It's frame is supposedly magnesium but feels as strong as a gas station pair of sunglasses. 

I'll throw the HD700 in here. I like it's futuristic look. Like a distant cousin of the SA5000, another one of my favorites
