This should be the same moment at the start of the song. Can it be clearly said, that the Audio CD was ripped from an original CD, or can it still be just a bloated 128kbps mp3?

Portability, sound quality, comfort - impossible in one pair of cans?

I'm keeping the ATH M50s. Thanks for your advice and suggestions.

Portability, sound quality, comfort - impossible in one pair of cans?

There is one last headphone comparation I need to decide, before finalizing my pick: ATH M50 vs V-Moda M80   V-Moda wins in portability, that is clear, but what about comfort (stiffness, clamping force), sound quality (bass oriented)? So far I've been using M50s for use on the go and they...

It looks as if it really is somehow less lossy, doesn't it? :-)

Call me vain, but HD25/Amperior just don't look right on a head. They look right for what they are suited - professional sound technician use.

Portability, sound quality, comfort - impossible in one pair of cans?

Between ATH-M50 and HFI-780 I have to choose M50, because of the build and comfort. Sound quality wise they are bit different. M50 sounds more "fun", bass can get really low, but only if the song requires it. 780 is much flatter and overall more balanced, the sound seems more studio-like.  ...

New ATH-M50 with low bass "flop"

I'll bet my fresh new M50's it's the crappy Razr. You can't expect good sound quality from a phone. I found that out the hard way - I bought Samsung Galaxy SII and was looking forward to using it as a versatile device, including playing music. However I was soon heartbreakingly disappointed. It...

How can I check for distortion in a certain frequency, when I only have songs? There are no harmonic sine waves...

Shoot. Without the original audio CDs there is no way of telling? That's too bad, but thank you anyway.

    Not sure about quality

I tried doing a FFT of my 320 kbps mp3 and the "unknown-original-format" Audio CD track. The time should be the same, even though it wasn't as easy, since the Audio CD tracks are few seconds longer than my mp3s. Can something be decoded out of this? Is the audio CD track true high quality...

Portability, sound quality, comfort - impossible in one pair of cans?

So right now I'm waiting for the delivery of Ultrasone HFI 780 and AudioTechnica ATH M50. Can't wait to test and compare them, but I hope one of them will have everything I'm looking for.

The codec detected by VLC is PCM S16 LE (araw).

    Not sure about quality

Hi   Few of my Audio CDs, which I was certain were just mp3s ripped into the Audio CD format, appear to have bitrate above 1900 kbps (VLC says so in the file statistics). Is it possible these really are copied original CDs, or can those still be just "bloated" mp3s? I hope you can...

How bad would be using AudioTechnica ATH M50S on the go with my Cowon D2? How dumb would I look? :-D

Portability, sound quality, comfort - impossible in one pair of cans?

Budget is not a big issue. I'm sure I can get all I'm asking for in 300$. I prefer over-head headphones, because they look good, sound bigger, are more comfortable and ear hygiene is not an issue :-D I also have pretty weird shaped ear holes. I've never met any buds, that would fit me.

Portability, sound quality, comfort - impossible in one pair of cans?

Thanks for all ideas, but I still can't find my prince Charming among headphones, considering all my needs. I really can't wear huge cans, while walking down a street, there has to be some kind of compromise.

Quote: Fidelio sure looks fantastic and has some great reviews. Thanks for this tip, for I would have never know about them, if you didn't mention them ;-) I understand, that the Fidelio M1 have not yet been released, but is it known, what's the difference between L1 and M1 in sound quality...

Portability, sound quality, comfort - impossible in one pair of cans?

Quote: Whew, those are big... If there really is nothing in the portable department, that could match the sound quality of Senns HD 25 1-II, then I'm going to have to broaden my search to the bigger headphones, but I still hope, there is at least something in between portables and full...

Portability, sound quality, comfort - impossible in one pair of cans?

Hello.   I while ago I started my search for headphones, that would sound fantastically and could serve both as a portable headphone (for Cowon D2 no amp) and a stationary one for PC gaming and listening. After first results came up and there was no option to try them out, I decided to buy...

    Headphones for Cowon D2

Well, I've been asking some other places too, so for now it seems, that the hottest candidate is Sennheiser HD25-1 II. It has superb sound quality and build sturdiness, but some reviews tend to hate its comfort. Still, it seems like a hot candidate.

    Headphones for Cowon D2

May I resurrect this ancient topic? I'm new here and I don't dare to create another thread.   Hardware: Cowon D2, no external AMP, KOSS Porta Pro Output: Hip-hop, electronica, dubstep (bassy music).   I need new headphones, that much is clear. Porta Pro's were enough for my old Sansa...
