Help me choose a sound card

Keep my Xonar DX or exchange for Xonar STX

I have a DX card and don't hear any hollowness, unless I add some digital effect from the card's options. To judge how any card truly sounds, you have to run it straight/normal without any faux effects.   To get a non-processed output on the DX, under "DSP mode" tick the "HF" button. That...

Also check out the SPL Auditor with the K701/702. Great amp with these cans.   I've got an EarMax for a bit laid back sound with the 701, very nice imaging/staging. Next up I'm going to try an M-Stage.

    Regarding The AKG k701s

Quote: What, and wait a few years until the bankers & hedge funds inflate the next bubble and it pops? Or does the hoi polloi fancy themselves as great financial wizards simply because they have a few measly bucks into some lame investments?    Wall St. looks at most small investors...

Quote: Where did I imply that you should buy & test everything? That's YOUR invention. My point was that you should try to listen to as many as you can get your hands on out of a list of contenders, not buy simply on someone else's recommendation.   Why? Because we all hear a bit...

I thought this was the "K701 appreciation thread", not the "Let's harp on how much better $1200.-1400. cans must be than K701's" thread?

    Musical Fidelity M1HPA + AKG K701...good combo?

Still looking for some info here.

New Zen I/V proposed from Nelson Pass

I like both versions, just different. The 24/96 seems a bit better resolution, a tad more air, but not as ballsy in the low end as the '63 version.

    Headphone 'burn-in' question

Burn-in is not a phenomena just with headphones, but is often the case with speakers and electronic components as well.

    Musical Fidelity M1HPA + AKG K701...good combo?

Just wondering if anyone has used the K701s with this amp. On paper, it looks like it might be a decent match.   I'd appreciate any subjective input you may have.

    K701 thread

Listening to Joe Jackson "Friday" now, right after Peter Gabriel "Shaking the Tree". I'm having no probs with the K701's bass.    Earlier was checking out Phillips Classics Haydn cello concertos in C (H. VIIb No. 1), and in D (Op. 101). Sounded like fine strings to me.

How do you deal with the changing seasons, physically?

I don't think so. You will still get cold areas, even though other areas are getting too warm.

I've had the audioengine 5's and ASUS Xonar DX for over a year now and they work well together. I don't feel the need for a sub right now, but if I did I'd probably get the REL Quake. REL's are pricey but great subs. My only beef about the 5's is I wish the power switch was on the front...
