Teac Reference Line UD-501 USB DAC "DSD"
It can drive HD-800s and the LCD-X so i would think the LCD-2 should be fine.- Wfojas

Teac Reference Line UD-501 USB DAC "DSD"
I've only had the iFI and Geek Out, and this sounds much less brighter that those, the detail is about the same, the mids and bass are cleaner than the iDSD Micro. I find the Geek Out to be more extended, so in some material its better, but in a lot of material its too fatigueing.- Wfojas

Teac Reference Line UD-501 USB DAC "DSD"
I've used it with an Sennheiser HD-800, AKG-K701 and Audeze LCD-X and it had more than adequate power. Hope that's of some help.- Wfojas

Audiophile Frank Sinatra suggestions
Lol, well clean LPs played on a good setup does have its pleasures. Thanks for the EMI heads up. -
Audiophile Frank Sinatra suggestions
Yeah, I would love to do that. Do you spin vinyl at meets? I would like to hear a grey label Sinatra Sings for Only The Lonely (Is it still a grey label in Stereo?) -
Audiophile Frank Sinatra suggestions
I was wondering if LFF could give feedback on the recent 'Come Fly With Me' in HDTracks? For some reason it sounds among the worst that I have heard of this album, though my copies of it have been in vinyl or the Capitol collection, which is not the lowest comparable. -

Teac Reference Line UD-501 USB DAC "DSD"
I don't know about the non Muses Essence one, but I had a Muses one, and I currently have the UD-501. I used boed out in Balanced mode to a Bryston BHA-1 to a Black Dragon cabled Sennheiser HD-800. Hands down, the Teac was much more neutral and revealing. The Muses sounded pleasant but...- Wfojas

iFi iDSD Micro DSD512 / PCM768 DAC and Headphone Amp. Impressions, Reviews and Comments.
Good to hear that it responds to a better amp. Must try to get around to hearing them with tubes. I used my iDSD feeding a Brsyston BHA-1 to Senn HD800, and find that the synergy between the Dac portion of the iDSD works really well with the Amp portion of it. It may just be that the dryness...- Wfojas

iFi iDSD Micro DSD512 / PCM768 DAC and Headphone Amp. Impressions, Reviews and Comments.
On the issue of what sounded better, the Geek Out or the iDSD, I'm not exactly sure if the iDSD wins all the time. I think it depends on the type of Geek Out you have, as this has match your phones too. I do know the GeekOut 720 sounds better with the LCD-X, and the Sennheiser HD-800 is...- Wfojas

Light Harmonic GEEK
I was part of the preorder for the 720, and they told me it would be the in the first week of May, which could be next week or the one after, I think those may be shipping a bit behind the others. Shipping to some vs. the others surely builds up anticipation, lol.- Wfojas

$350CAD HERUS: Asynchronous USB Audio 2.0, 24bit 352.8Ks/S, DXD and DSD64/128, 2.4VRMS Headphone DAC
Thanks for your feedback.I did intend to pair the HD with the Vali, and not the Loki for a desktop setup. I was curious to see how the Herus compared with the Concero HD for those that have been able to hear both. They are both small enough in size that it does not fall into consideration. The...- Wfojas

$350CAD HERUS: Asynchronous USB Audio 2.0, 24bit 352.8Ks/S, DXD and DSD64/128, 2.4VRMS Headphone DAC
Having a ton of fun reading your impressions. Has anyone had the chance to compare the Herus with a Concero HP (or Concero HD, which is really what I'd like, but I understand that the absence of an amp will add the amp factor into the comparison, further mucking up the comparison?). I'm really...- Wfojas

Lynx Hilo - new offering from Pro Audio company.
Quote: Thanks for the reply, CDWMchInSpots. I was looking to compare the sound with the Teac UD-501 which I had been burning in the last three weeks for DSD, and was hoping there was some way to go balanced with the Hilo, as I feel the HD-800 comes to its own when driven balanced. I will...- Wfojas

Lynx Hilo - new offering from Pro Audio company.
I've been following this thread with great interest and I had a few questions; 1. Has anyone tried comparing how its DSD performance was compared to its PCM performance? 2. I missed this next one I think, but how is the sound through the headphone amp, versus the line out vs (I guess) the...- Wfojas

Teac Reference Line UD-501 USB DAC "DSD"
Quote: I second that too, Brunk. I would be happy with the Amp in the Teac, but the Bryston was around and the HD 800 sounds so much better balanced. I am looking around for an Audeze LCD 2 which I seem to have read somewhere that works well with it. I've been downloading DSD versions...- Wfojas

Teac Reference Line UD-501 USB DAC "DSD"
Quote: I second that, though it may stem from the dac portion of the unit. Running it through an external headphone amp doesn't add that much more air, and in fact could detract from the warmth of the Muses. I do know that the Teac's built in amp can drive my HD-800 adequately, but you...- Wfojas
