X-Can V3, Gilmore Lite or Hornet?

I see many positive comments on the X-Can V3, and this makes me think that this amp had been previously underrated on head-fi. However it's pretty strange that there is no positive (or negative) comment on the Gilmore Lite and the Hornet... It seems this thread is transforming into a "X-Can...

X-Can V3, Gilmore Lite or Hornet?

It may seem strange to compare home and portables amps, and actually I think it is, but... I own both a Sennheiser HD580 and a Shure E4 and still I can't decide if I will invest only on sound (and go with an home amp) or even on portability... I have restricted the choice among the X-Can...

help.. the hornet vs xcan v3?

This thread has moved from the Hornet vs X-Can V3 comparison to the SR-71 vs X-Can V3 comparison... So the X-Can V3 sounds better than the SR-71, the SR-71 sounds better than the Hornet, THUS the X-Can V3 sounds better than the Hornet? I may have misunderstood, but it seems to me that this...

    iPod Photos--sound distortion?

The distortion issue is not a legend... But... Only with certain type of earphones (I use E4) and only with very specific kind of music... All the classical music for piano solo that I have (and I have a large amount) is UNHEARABLE: I mean that every single note is distorted!! Lucky the iPod...

$44,000 MP3 player. You've got to be kidding!

It's maybe the first audio product which contemporary has these two feautures: - I can't afford it - I don't want it Usually I want everything I can't afford...

    OMG!! Ipod Line Out!!

Quote: Sounds great, a heck lot better than headphone out. The bass is there just not as huge of an improvement as with an amp. Also the volume is max on the attenuator and I feel it still needs more juice. Line out works fine with the E4's not sure for bigger cans. Attentuator from Line...

    OMG!! Ipod Line Out!!

lal316l... maybe you can solve a little dilemma... Have you tried this setup: iPod > dock lineout > Shure attenuator > E4 ? I absolutely don't expect the bass you can get with the PA2V2, but... who knows it can be an improvement...

The Irony of Calling iPod Users "Sheep"

Quote: Ah but don't forget that even average persons' reviews are still not the same as "independent" reviews, as people do read professional reviews themselves and aren't as immune to marketing ploys as you seem to be. Absolutely true Masolino, but reading several reviews (we can...

The Irony of Calling iPod Users "Sheep"

I'm sorry chewmanji but you make me doubt that you have read the entire thread... I know that 5 pages aren't a short reading, but... I've stated and in fact I DO NOT believe that every one is a sheep... I just was answering to another post...

Once and for all, Shure E4c or Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 Pro?

Quote: If you're going to use one of these IEMs exclusively for commuting (noisy stations, busses, trains, subways) it needs to block out a ton of noise. Which of the IEMs would you recommend for such an environment (assuming a good portable rig such as the one in my sig)? E4c with...

Once and for all, Shure E4c or Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 Pro?

I can confirm that with Dream Theater the iPod + E4 works very well... But with less-distorted-guitars-prog (Jordan Rudess for ex.) it works even better...

Once and for all, Shure E4c or Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 Pro?

Surely the iPod + E4 combo doesn't have explosive bass, but: - if you listen jazz, classical, some pop and in general music in which the bass frequecies are not too crowded, E4 + iPod will make an excellent job - if you listen rock, hard rock, prog-metal, and in general music in which the bass...

The Irony of Calling iPod Users "Sheep"

Quote: If you go back and read his original post, he didn't say "MUST" or "all". He same "Some people buy iPods...", and "others avoid the iPod..." When I said: "I refuse to believe that we MUST fall into one of these category" I intended we as all the people that buy a DAP. The whole...

The Irony of Calling iPod Users "Sheep"

I'm sorry scrypt... but I refuse to believe that we MUST fall into one of these category: - brainwashed by marketing (and so sheep) - rebelled to marketing (and so sheep) The crucial assumption of the brains behind marketing is that the probable buyer IS NOT informed. In fact one of the...

The Irony of Calling iPod Users "Sheep"

I think that we basically act driven by aesthetic judgments. However the nature of an aesthetic judgement is very complex. Some examples: - if I judge the Michelangelo's Pietà my judgement can only be based on what I see - if I judge the Shumann's Piano Concerto my judgement can only be based...

The more I listen to my E4C's the less I like my DT770's

I have to admit the more I listen to E4 the more I like it... The bass weakness reduced listening to them (I don't use the bass boost eq on the iPod anymore). Surely an improvement due to the burn in (intended as psycolocigal process)... The thing I noticed is that E4 reproduce the bass in a...

    line-out volume control for ipod?

Quote: bear in mind that the line out has pretty high output impedance, most of the time alot higher than your phone's impedance. it's a good practice to keep the output impedance of the source/amp 1/10th or equals to the load impedance for voltage bridging/maximum power transfer. although...

    line-out volume control for ipod?

    line-out volume control for ipod?

Hi Shmuel... Maybe yoou have read that information on this thread (which I have started)? http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showt...E4+iPod+TREBLE I haven't tried yet this path: line out > attenuator > earphones but the positve comments about sound quality are making me decide for a...

    E4c and iPod TREBLE sinergy

Quote: It's never that great an idea to plug headphones in to line out jacks... the jacks are trying to push out the 'information' (IIRC) at 47K ohms - 2V... and you are then putting your 32ohm or whatever headphones in there... if the strain doesn't kill the line output, the voltage will...

Best listening experience with Shure E4's?

Quote: kind of, it doesnt give any visceral impact of sorts, but it rounds out and tightens up. classical sounds livelier, drum and bass is way more bassy, and metal is just more engaging. the bass problem might not be solved as such, but it ceratinly sounds a lot better! nice! This...
