Subwoofer to pair with Mackie mr5's?

Yes, you'll need a powered sub. And your sound card has L/R 1/4" jack outputs, correct? You'll probably need to use a pair of Y-splitters to send signal to your sub and monitors. I had this exact situation with a pair of monitors and the emu 0404 card. I bought a powered sub, used y-splitters...

    RCA splitter or switcher?

Just to update; I'm using the splitters, they sound fine to my hears. Haven't done strict comparisons, but I can't hear any degradation.

Floorstand speakers as near-field computer speakers

Yeah, I'd say go with standmount bookshelfs. You can find 4ft stands which should put the tweeters around ear level.

Any Recommendations for the Best 5.1 Speaker Set up for around £800?

I just bought some mint black Diamond 10.1's for £80 off ebay. :D They've discontinued the 10.x series now and are doing the Diamond 100 series, which are getting really good reviews. They're too new to find 2nd hand though. But with an £800 budget, that shouldn't be a problem. You just won't be...

Any Recommendations for the Best 5.1 Speaker Set up for around £800?

How much space do you have? If you've got a big enough space, I'd fill out your room with Wharfedale Diamonds (floor standers for fronts, 10.1's for rears, etc) and get a nice Onkyo AVR. I'd probably put £300 towards the AVR, £500 for speakers, roughly. There are of course other options, but you...

Any Recommendations for the Best 5.1 Speaker Set up for around £800?

With that sort of budget, you could buy a pretty good AV receiver and 5.1 speaker package. Avoid all-in-one kits, go for a separate receiver and speaker package usually. You can find lots of good second hand stuff from AVForums.com, it's a UK site so will have plenty to choose from.

    RCA splitter or switcher?

Thanks for the reply. What's the 'radio hack version'? Also, what's your chain of wiring look like? Cheers.

    RCA splitter or switcher?

Hi there. I'm about to receive a Schiit Magni and Modi. I want to use the Modi DAC for both my headphones and for my speakers being fed through a stereo amp. My question is would be preferable to use some cheap y splitters or get a RCA switcher? Obviously only one amp will be on at a time, the...

Pictures of your computer rigs! Post them here!

Hi guys, new here. This was my set up a few months ago. I've since moved, and don't have the space at the moment for the speakers. But They were just some active Fostex PM0.5 monitors, with an active Mission 8" sub under the desk. This was using an E-MU PCI sound card.   Really liked that...

Some opinions on a budget PC based stereo

I'm sure lots of this stuff has been covered before, so apologies for the repetition. Just for some relevant back ground information I often see asked: Music - pretty varied tbh. Might be easier to say what won't be played: won't be listening to classical, jazz, very bass heavy stuff (for the...
