Firestone "Custom Cute" DAC review: galvanically isolated XMOS/WM8740 24/192 USB DAC
the opa627bp is a worthwhile mod that lead me thinking firestone audio should use that as stock instead of the cheap and inferior opa to maintain the same price: 1) skip the exotic packaging 2) do without the free interconnect rca cables 3) get rid of the board...- cpu8088

Firestone "Custom Cute" DAC review: galvanically isolated XMOS/WM8740 24/192 USB DAC
just swapped the 2 opamps with Burr Brown opa627bp. the highs are more solid and less prominent than before, making the bass with more attacks. mids are very smooth and silky. very listenable. got them cheap from ebay. about half the price than from farnell.- cpu8088

HRT Music Streamer HD reviews, impressions and comparisons
drivers for specific hardware are never the responsibility of microsoft. there are many dac manufacturers write their own drivers for win. hrt is just slow in doing this.- cpu8088

Firestone Tobby
This new DAC is a 24bit/192kHz DAC featuring Asynchronous 24bit/192kHz via the USB port as well, a first for Firestone Audio. Firstly, the 24bit/192kHz Asynchronous USB port which features an XMOS receiver chip is a minimum requirement now and thankfully they have implemented this critical... -

DAC for 200-250$
i used hrt ms2 for about a year and loving it. however it does not handle 24/176 24/192 files. now i am using the firestone iltw. it is a bit more expensive about usd 350 but it is non upsampling and can handle 24/176 24/192 async. just dont expect too much from entry level dacs.- cpu8088
