I don't really want to run bootcamp on the Mac mini, but I'm having trouble finding something comparable to JRiver. I would need it to obviously play FLAC and be able to control via an iPad (not using a monitor). Any Mac people have suggestions?- steel108

Still need to get a Mac Mini for my music so I can move everything to my bedroom (might also get a Sieveking Sound stand), but I'm loving the HD800 + WA22 + Yulong D18 combo. I had no idea the D18 was so small (at least compared to the WA22). Was hoping to stack it on my desk. Might pickup...- steel108

Sennheiser HD 700: Officially Unveiled at CES 2012!
I can't figure out why US members don't just buy it from Amazon and test it out themselves?????? You have a 30 day no question asked return; I have returned a ton of headphones, amps, etc without question. Free UPS pickups as well. Free auditions FTW.....- steel108

Silly question: my balanced cables arrived today. There is a red connector and black connector for both ends. Does it matter which I plug in as long as it matches both ends (do the colors mean anything besides matching L and R for the ends)?- steel108

Amp and DAC for HD800
Quote: Are you looking for an analytical sound? Based on the feeback of someone who's opinion I value, the A18 + D18 combo won't meet your requirements if that is what you are looking for. That combo with the HD800 is for musical enjoyment, not analysis. Here is a quote from our PM...- steel108

Amp and DAC for HD800
The HD800 are very picky; trust me. I went through so many amps and DACs in the 45 ish days I have owned them. One piece of advice I will give you is don't try to save money; you will end up spending more. I kept buying new equipment, each time more expensive than the previous, and I'm back...- steel108

Just got my WA22 today; bought it from cacatalysis. It came FAST; so fast, that I can't even use it. My DAC, tube adapter, and balanced cables aren't here yet :( I can't describe how brutal it is to not be able to use it- steel108

Sennheiser HD800 Appreciation Thread
To go balanced or not to go balanced that is the question..... New cables + WA22 + Balanced DAC vs WA2 + Yulong D100 Wallet obviously says no balance, but heart says balance. I hate the 4 week+ wait time for a WA, but I am set on it. Just need to figure...- steel108

New Balanced Schiit Amps? The information and anticipation thread.
Quote: LOL, if you think "outsourcing" is responsible for the fiscal collapse of our country/economy, you need to open your eyes/ears. On a scale of 1-10 (10 bearing the most responsibility), outsourcing would probably be a 3. End thread derail..... I have a Lyr/Bifrost combo...- steel108

Schiit Lyr - The tube rolling thread
Got through reading a pages of this thread and thought I would just ask: Received the Lyr; music sounds better, but I am losing that detail I had with the M1HPA when paired with the HD800. Track 7 of Open Your Ears, the handclaps just aren't as detailed/lifelike. I want the...- steel108

THE DIY HEADPHONE STAND THREAD
Think I will break down and just pick up some Sieveking stands. This will give a general idea of where my headphones are usually placed.... spending 1k+ on headphones and not giving them a proper place to rest just seems wrong (at least more wrong than spending 150+ on a stand for them):- steel108

Does the Headroom Desktop Amp/DAC reproduce 96kHz/24bit audio?
I can't understand why there is a need for a USB to S/PDIF (I could be an idiot). My desktop's mobo has an S/PDIF (Asus P8P67 Pro); I just assumed I could connect a DAC to that, am I wrong? I bought an S/PDIF and Toslink (Which I know works) just in case though.....- steel108

Quote: The HDP is pretty awesome considering its price and size; paired perfectly with my D7000. Problem is that it blows with the HD800; I just bought a DacMagic and not happy with this DAC either. Will be ordering the Yulong D18 tomorrow hopefully. These things are picky; hopefully...- steel108

I pulled the trigger on the Music Fidelity M1HPA and the Cambridge Audio DacMagic I only had 4 minutes left before missing out on delivery tomorrow through Amazon Prime so I just bit the bullet on the DAC. If it's not what I want, I can always return it <3 Amazon Thoughts?- steel108
