DSP tube amplifier?
Thanks for the reply. You're right - someone who spends a lot of money for a good solid state amp probably doesn't want to mask its purity. But It would be an interesting option to be able to compare a tube sound, especially on sub -par recordings. Being able to re-create a tube sound...- MeDotOrg

DSP tube amplifier?
I should preface this post with the (obvious) declaration that I am an audiophile, but am certainly not an engineer, so if what I’m suggesting is absurd, mea culpa. The idea of a DSP tube amplifier might be an oxymoron, but bear with me... People always talk about the warmth and sweetness of...- MeDotOrg

Cables from Monoprice?
Another satisfied Monoprice user. I've swapped out more expensive cables and cannot tell the difference. Let me put it this way: Cables are the LAST place I spend money. There's a reason Best Buy is selling Monster cables to the Rubes who buy Bose.- MeDotOrg

Hooking up a Morrison ELAD as a headphone amp
It's very interesting reading the debate in various forums about the ELAD. In a way it's like the children's story of 'The 'Emperor has no clothes', except the point of this story is that the Emperor shouldn't be wearing clothes. In this case the 'clothes' are the sound coloration added by the...- MeDotOrg

Reply to review by 'medotorg' on item 'Koss PortaPro - Headphones ( semi-open )'
I've been doing a lot of listening on my PortaPros between the demise of my Sennheiser 580s and the arrival of the replacement 600s. While they are not in the same league as the Sennheisers, I think they provide surprisingly good sound for the price. If you are looking for a set of inexpensive...- MeDotOrg

I just got the HD600s today - the first disclaimer is that it is hard to be accurate when you are comparing what the old cans sounded like when you can't do a side-by-side comparison. Since I sent the HD580s back for repair I have been using Koss PortaPros (very decent inexpensive portable cans)...- MeDotOrg

Review by 'MeDotOrg' on item 'Oppo BDP-83 All Multi Region Code Free DVD BLU RAY Player. Plays all region DVD 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 PAL or NTSC. And Zone A B C Blu Rays'
It will handle DVDs, SACD and Bluray. If you need to have 1 transport, this is not a bad choice. I can't say that it has knocked by socks off, but it has been reliable, with excellent picture and sound. Loads faster than many Bluray players.- MeDotOrg

Review by 'MeDotOrg' on item 'Sennheiser HD 580'
These headphones make you forget you are listening to headphones. They are so comfortable, so natural sounding, they are a joy. They have enough oomph to rock out (I don't think they are the ultimate electro/synth/rap cans) and yet present the most delicate classical music. After about 12...- MeDotOrg
