    Dynahi PS Problems

The joints themselves actually seem to look good. Just needed to clean the flux off the board. Not sure what is going on with the bent heatsink bolts.

Glad to hear that is the situation. The caps should be fine but if you have the money.. better ones might do the amp some good.

Headphone Amp - Ground Loop (Buzz/hum) A Fix?

I have my computer plugged into a surge strip (one of those under-the-monitor types) and if I plug the guitar amp into the wall outlet (different outlet than the one the surge strip is plugged into) I will get some nasty hum from the ground loop of the house wiring. If I have the amp plugged...

DIY Newbie that needs help with hardware

Best thing can also be to just get a cheap bag of parts and a perfbaord and have at it with the soldering iron. Then move to an amp. First, watch the videos on Tangent's site. You can go for a cheap ratshak soldering iron but I think even a basic weller will be better in the long run. Use...

    Dynahi PS Problems

Is it the actual metal of the caps buldging or is it the plastic? I have had one cap with a buldging top that I thought was on it's way out in my speaker amp. Ended up being just the plastic top was buldgin and the cap was fine.

Teenage stupidity my ###, hang these bastards

Kids these days are not brought up properly these days. There are a lot of parents that expect the teachers to teach them the basics of life. Tis a shame. A lot of kids do not know right from wrong. I know a few Elementary teachers and some of the stories are unbelievable. It seems to have...

Do you hear the difference? A test

I think I can hear the difference in the voicem at the beginning. At first I though it was my ears doing the metallic sound cause they sorta experienced full line level output through an amp with no pot last night. oppps I need to pay more attention to what I am doing at times.

Should be able to. You may want to head over to diyaudio as they are more geared toward home theater components.

    Cmoy Grounding Issue

A cheap PS from a cheap pair of comp speakers will be a switching PS.. not regulated. You will get noise from it. Keep your eye out for a PS from an old printer or other major piece of equipment. it should be a little better but not fully regulated. Will likely have a higher voltage to work...

    Safe level of DC offset?

If it makes anyone feel any better.. I have been using my Grados through my computer speaker headphone out (Klipsch Promedia) and while I had all my equipment out, I decided to test the DC output. one channel was around 25mV.. the other was around 35mV and goes up to around 50mV with loud...

    Replacing Fuse in DMM

Do not get the fuses from Mouser. They are only a single fuse unlike the 4-pack that B&K shows on their site. What a rip. <> Mouser is checking to see if they have it correct on their end.

Probably didn't shield. Especially if you are near a computer, you will get noise from it.

Nine Inch Nails new album out

I downloaded this a few weeks ago. Great set. $5 for 32 tracks.. can't beat it. Nice to see NIN step away from the usual music industry and offer a great 4-disc album for less than you can get a used CD on ebay. When you download, you have the option to select what format. You can get flac. I...

    Music to study/work to?

Since I don't have to study and mostly working on projects in the garage or basement.. Classical especially some 4-part symphonies are always good. Floyd, Zeppelin.. Lately I have been getting into Marley (Bob and ziggy), Bedouin Soundclash, State Radio,.. music of that type. It...

    Safe level of DC offset?

It is all in your head, regal. When you turn an amp on or off, it won't power up/down equally so you will get a pop. You will be fine. The official Grado amp has a bad pop and they tod someone not to worry about that, iirc. Their cans are 32 Ohm.

Sale at Sears Today: A Proposition for a DIY Audio Shelf Unit

I don't know about holding the balls with blutac only. If you are into all that vibration cone isolation stuff, I would suggest finding a way to attach them where you wont have to worry about the shelf if it gets bumped. Frankly, if something in direct contact with something, vibration will be...

    Replacing Fuse in DMM

I blew one in my 2704B. Just ordered the 4-pack from Mouser. It is the same as the 06. You go by what the fuse says. It is a fast acting ceramic, 250V, 630mA, made by Bussman. 5x20 Normal for discrepency. If you get a 200mA it will blow a lot especially if it si fast acting. The 630 will...
