    Emotiva XDA-2 Review and Issues

Happens on my Mac all the time. You have to toggle (unplug and plug in again) the USB cable to get the computer to read the sample rates properly. It's a great DAC, but this issue is really started to bother me.

    Q701 impressions thread

I listen to a lot of classical music and use the Emotiva XDA-2. I've been very happy with it. However, for music such as string quartets or any music that features the cello (or bass -  I'm thinking of Esperanza Spalding's music even though it's not classical) I prefer to use the XDA-2 as a...

    Emotiva XDA-2 Review and Issues

This is really interesting @Folex. I'm sure Keith over at Emotiva knows about it, but it's worth bringing it to his attention. Have you contacted Emotiva about this?   Edit: I think you have.   If that's you over in the XDA forums, check my response. Although what I've quoted is for a problem...

Please help me with my survey (about storage)

I tend to save copies of everything in zip files on a storage drive so I don't need to download/rip again should I delete anything or anything happen to my live drive. I have about a TB of stored music and about 600GB of music in active libraries (like iTunes).

Mac OS X Music Players - alternatives to iTunes

I didn't , but since you mention it, I don't agree that it looks like something from 10.4. Non-native mac-like is JRiver! (I honestly have no idea what the attraction is to JRiver). However, I'm with you on the library manager front. Library manager means that the app gets bigger and heavier...

Mac OS X Music Players - alternatives to iTunes

So you got A+ to work? What caused the noise? I've never had noise caused by A+. Interesting that you like VOX. I agree it has a nice interface, but I didn't feel it added an improvement over iTunes. Fidelia has been a huge letdown over the last couple of years. I liked it and thought it offered...

Mac OS X Music Players - alternatives to iTunes

I'd really like to know if anyone else is seeing something like this:   Queue up one song at 16/44 followed by another at 24/192 (All FLAC files). The 16/44 song will play but A+ will just stop when it moves to the 24/192 song. This does not always happen, but a way of making it happen is to...

Mac OS X Music Players - alternatives to iTunes

It may be Mavericks that's buggy. I just can't get it to play nicely with any of my DACs via USB. The thing is, iTunes will only play music at 44.1kHz (unless I'm doing something wrong) so I play hd music through A+. Since there seem to be problems with hd music, either A+, Mavericks, my...

Sonic Satori - HRT Levels the Field with the MicroStreamer

Sorry I couldn't get back to you on this the other day. I am testing out the uS on my DT900s right now. I'll report back with more impressions later, but I wanted to say that the sound is much better than I expected (not to say that I had low expectations, but I find the DT990s to be really...

Mac OS X Music Players - alternatives to iTunes

I seem to recall from the A+ forum that 1.5.10 is not readily available to download. I should have a look.

Mac OS X Music Players - alternatives to iTunes

Honestly, I'm not sure if it's A+ or Mavericks or my XDA-2. I'm sure it's a combination of the three. About once a day, I'll load up some music in A+ and it will just freeze. I force close, check connections (audio from iTunes is fine), reopen A+ and try again. Same thing. Usually the only fix...

Mac OS X Music Players - alternatives to iTunes

Check the manual. The explanation is there. If I remember correctly, 1 is more accurate, 2 is a wee bit warm.

Sounds like a good offer. Still, I'll test them out this evening.

Which OHM rating? I have 250 OHM 990s. I haven't tested them, but I can.

Mac OS X Music Players - alternatives to iTunes

I too would like to know what's going on with A+ development. A version 2 is all well and good, but I've been having quite a few problems with 1.5.12. An update wouldn't be unappreciated!

Sonic Satori - HRT Levels the Field with the MicroStreamer

Kevin,   Thank you for replying. I did see and read this file. What leaves doubt in my mind about which one to use is I use the microstreamer with my computer and I'd like to use it with a portable device like an iPod. The documentation here doesn't really provide much information about which...

Sonic Satori - HRT Levels the Field with the MicroStreamer

With all due respect, the instructions are for Windows machines and there are only explanations for a few updates, none of them for the microstreamer.

Sonic Satori - HRT Levels the Field with the MicroStreamer

My new microstreamer arrived less than 90 minutes ago. Some quick impressions: 1. This thing is tiny! I was expecting something about the size of an iPod, but this is closer to the size of a box of matches. I'm actually really happy about this. 2. Sound is really really good. Considering this...

    Emotiva XDA-2 Review and Issues

I heard back from Emotiva. They recommend using a different cable (under 6 feet long) and trying a different USB port. I've tried a few different cables, but haven't had any luck. I haven't tried a different port yet. Still, this has not happened with any other DAC I've owned.

    Emotiva XDA-2 Review and Issues

If this is a response to me, I am using a Mac. The problem is that the connection won't resume properly if the computer goes to sleep or is restarted.

    Emotiva XDA-2 Review and Issues

I don't know if this solves your problem or not, but I've found that if I turn off the XDA-2, unplug the USB cable from the computer, turn the XDA-2 back on, and then plug the USB cable back in, it goes back to normal. I've emailed Emotiva about this, but haven't heard back yet. It's seriously...

    Q701 impressions thread

The Dacport lx isn't an amp at all, it's a dac. The Dacport is an amp/dac. I guess it depends what you mean by portable. For me, portable means I can at least throw it in my bag and hook it up to my laptop when I sit down. Then there are grades of portability.. Sorry this came out a little more...

    Q701 impressions thread

I'm looking at the moment. I've made a few changes to my home system at the expense of my portable gadgets. Next on my list is either a Centrance Dacport, Cambridge Audio dacmagic (the little portable one), or the HRT Microstreamer. Not all work with mobile phones though. One of the great things...
