Watches - another passion of ours, it seems...post your pics!
I think you just answered your own question - while everyone has their reasons, the intricate movements are a huge part of it for me. It's true that a $50 Casio G-Shock is cheaper, more precise and more resistant to both physical shock and magnetism than any mechanical watch, but I love the...- Arainach

HD650......still hold their own
The HD650 are wonderful headphones. After wearing mine down for a decade, I recently replaced the pads (the headband with stock, the dears with Dekoni Fenestrated Sheepskin). Around the same time I picked up the HD800s, and while they're better in some ways, the overall sound isn't...- Arainach

Bicycle-Fi!
Honest question to those of you who attach speakers to your bikes (particularly during group rides): Do you honestly believe everyone else likes the same music as you, or do you just not care what you're subjecting other people to? That's not true in the slightest. In fact, if your...- Arainach

Bicycle-Fi!
An interesting concept, but still no replacement for a good headlight and taillight (at least one of which is missing in that pic). I'd also recommend a jacket in some color other than jack. Riding at night can be fun, IF other people can clearly see you.- Arainach

Bicycle-Fi!
Finally got my new seat in (Selle An-Atomica Titanico X) yesterday to complete my commuter/touring build: Fairly standard. Surly Disc Trucker 58cm with the usual touring upgrades (Fenders, Topeak Rack, Ortlieb Backrollers, Lights and Computer) plus the Titanico Saddle and Shimano M-530...- Arainach

Mouse -Fi
I've got 3 G500s myself now (Home Desktop, Work Desktop, "Spare" (either laptop or for my fiancee's desktop, haven't decided which yet). Truly wonderful. Microsoft Mice work well enough for most desktop use for me, but for gaming and pure comfort it's logitech all the way. I went through a long...- Arainach

Well, my Seiko SNDA65 met an untimely death in a biking accident, so I decided this time I'd satisfy my desire for a military-style watch properly with a Combat B series. Behold my new Lum-Tec B7:- Arainach

weird win7 problem
If you check the system event logs (search the start menu for "event log" and look at Windows Logs->System, does it give you any indication of any failures near the time it rebooted or reasons why it might have rebooted?- Arainach

What headphones are you currently rocking?
Good old Sennheiser HD280. Though the headband is more Electrical Tape than anything else at this point, the drivers still sound great, and late at night the isolation (and lack of leakage) is invaluable.- Arainach

Watches - another passion of ours, it seems...post your pics!
Well, after an extended search, I finally decided on my next watch (I figure I'm allowed to buy a new one every couple years or so and still justify it): The Seiko "Stargate" SKZ327. I'm not much of one for rubber straps, so this is going on a NATO strap for the time being while I...- Arainach

What's your drink? (Cocktails)
Indeed. There are many excellent beers, liquors, and mixed drinks out there, but Chartreuse Green and Tonic is my drink of choice (though I only have it sparingly due to the cost of Chartreuse). I've never tried the V.E.P. and doubt I can get it here in Washington (blasted state liquor stores)...- Arainach

Do you have a particular dislike towards Sony Memory Sticks?
The rest of the world has standardized on SD. They're faster, can be used in most of my devices, all of my laptops have built-in readers for SD, and they're approximately 1/3 the cost per gigabyte (less if you buy bargain brands). They're better in basically every way, and Sony's addition to...- Arainach

Headphones you regretted buying the most
Definitely the Sennheiser HD-570 - I didn't spend too much on them, and may have even gotten all my money back reselling them (I forget), but I never really liked them.- Arainach

Windows Phone 7
The phone is optimized to have WiFi left on all the time. Disabling it won't save you any battery. Just leave it on, and the phone will always use a WiFi connection when possible and fallback to 3G when out of range. OneNote? Edit: The new forums don't support BBCode? Seriously? And...- Arainach

Will a HDMI splitter put out the same quality as usual HDMI?
I would think you'd need some sort of device (with power supply), since the HDMI secure handshake wouldn't work over a splitter.- Arainach

That web ad has got to go.
It's an eHarmony one that appears in the right menu. I agree, ads with audio are simply unbearable. As if taking up an absurd 330 horizontal pixels wasn't enough already... I already rarely visit, and now the few times I do I'm reminded of why it's better to just stay away.- Arainach

Does it matter how many devices share a socket?
I wouldn't daisy-chain power strips - it's a potential fire hazard. Although if you had a single 8-outlet one, you could probably get away with running all that off one strip fine. In short, yes, you CAN connect too much to one socket, although in your case you're probably fine for now... -
