    Audeze LCD-2 Impressions Thread

I was doing research prior to purchasing LCD2, shot Audeze an email asking about fazor and how they affect the sound (particularly the bass) this is the response I received.

    Matrix Mini-i Pro Impressions?

Would it make sense to purchase an older Matrix mini i 24/192 unit with red LED panel? If yes, how much should I spend? How much of a difference is it between newer unit?   Would a newer unit be adequate for HE-400, HD650, & TH-X00?

    What's a good Dac / Amp combo for HD650 & TH-X00? Would Asgard 2 & Modi 2 get the job done?

What kind of dac/amp should I get for these for ~$350 or less? My other headphone is HD650.

    Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

Currently using Audinst HUD MX1 + HE400 and am looking to purchase HD650 + amp. Should I get a solid state amp or something like valhalla 2 or darkvoice 336se? What exactly is the tube sound on HD650 and why is suggested so often?

Thank you for sharing. Your program works but I'm going to stick to my current technique. A Config.txt shortcut on the desktop, I can enable any of my presets by removing the forward slash from the "/Include:".

Does anybody use Equalizer APO - if so, would you mind sharing your settings? I'd like a darker than neutral sound from HE-400s. Thank you.

So I've realized that I'm rather treble sensitive. For about 60-75% of my music (mainly indie, electronica, pop, and hip-hop) this is the only way I seem to be able to enjoy my HE-400s.      No longer using Jergpads - found them to make my ears too hot, back to velours.

Yeah... But when I bought it on Amazon it was $12.   If you have a large head like mine, the headband will not fit unless you cut off the bumps. Without the middle 4 bumps, with the headband these headphones are a perfect fit. If I wee to add anything else to the padding, the earcups won't...

    Q701 impressions thread

Had my latest pair of Q701s for little over a month now. Three main concerns arose over the period of time: quiet bass, bright treble, uncomfortable headband. Today I decided to do the all-familiar mods.   First off, hacked away the headband bumps with an Xacto knife.     Added additional...

    = Hifiman HE500 & HE400 Jergpad Mod v2.5 =

Attached Q701 pads to my HE-400, the results were mixed. Comfort was great, the sound was not. I'd expect this mod to work out much better on the HE-500, ended up going back to Jergpads.   Here is a photo of various pads for comparison.     If you're interested, take a look here:  ...

Hifiman - AKG Q701 hybrid earpad mod.

Materials: AKG Q701 pads. Hifiman fitting rings. Double sided tape. ~30 minutes of your time.    Step 1: Attach double sided tape\foam to the plastic portion underneath the AKG pads.     Step 2: Attach Hifiman fitting rings onto the double sided tape, squeeze to allow proper adhesion...

Sent him a PM. Angled AKG 7xx pads are some of my favorite, the potential comfort improvement with Hifiman cans would be undeniable, my only concern is how much bass I'll loose and how bright they'll sound.

Anybody try HE-400 with Q701 pads? The fitting rings from Hifiman are the easiest thing in the world to glue to the bottom of AKG pads but I'm afraid to waste $60 pads if it sounds like ass.

Yep. Here's a screenshot from their store page last year. Take a look at the Warranty policy, it's been like that for months until they decided to discretely bump it down to 1 year and pretend that this never existed.

Hey guys I have a question and would like to hear your opinion on something.   Last year (mid March of 2013) I've purchased a pair of HE-400s. At the time of my purchase the Head-Direct website advertised a 3 year warranty on HE-400 model but couple of months ago I've noticed that the same...

There's foam inside those bumps, poking holes makes it easier to break them up and make them softer.

    Q701 impressions thread

Found a way to make bumps a bit less annoying, poked a bunch of holes with a sewing needle in them to let the air out and then squeezed and broke them up with my thumbs for about half an hour. They are a lot more softer now.
