The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread

Yeah, the k7XX does respond will to amping. I did enjoy them without the modi/Magni but I like them a lot more after pairing them together. I personally didn't really like the X2's. They sounded really 'thick' if that makes sense. You should definitely them a shot though. There will probably...

The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread

I think for your preferences, the K7XX will be a better choice. You said that you like clarity over impact and wanted a larger sound stage than the K550. The X2's have a lot of impact and their sound stage is decent, but not as large as K7XX. The K7XX aren't as lean and neutral as the K553...

Audio Technica ATH-M40x: The Little Brother that Could

If there was, you would probably know about it by now    Maybe the K553 pro's? Not really portable but it would be the closest to what you are looking for. I joined the latest drop. My M40x's will probably be replaced by them.

Audio Technica ATH-M40x: The Little Brother that Could

Yeah I have heard that they have the best soundstage for a closed back. I am not saying the M40x is on that level, I'm just saying they don't have 0 soundstage. Basically, when I am listening to them, I don't wish they had a larger soundstage (unlike the M50's), even when I am alternating...

Audio Technica ATH-M40x: The Little Brother that Could

These aren't for gaming but they don't have 0 soundstage either. It might be because of the brainwavz pads but I think they have a pretty decent soundstage for being closed. I would describe the m50x as having an almost non existent soundstage.

Audio Technica ATH-M40x: The Little Brother that Could

The sound is very slightly impacted, but for the better imo. A little more low end and because of more room, better sound stage. Honestly, the HM5 pads should be a required purchase after buying the M40x, especially if you are having comfort issues. For me it made the M40x go from pretty good...

Audio Technica ATH-M40x: The Little Brother that Could

I wouldn't call these a basshead headphones at all. I find they're pretty balanced with no area overpowering another. What you described sounds like the M50x. Then again, it is subjective. I bought mine used so they were most likely burned in but maybe they'll get more balanced after a bit of...

Audio Technica ATH-M40x: The Little Brother that Could

Did you drill more holes into the ear cups? I would never be able to do that. Does the bass become more like the M50x?

Audio Technica ATH-M40x: The Little Brother that Could

The brainwavz earpads make these so much more comfortable and the sound remains the same. I highly recommend swapping out the pads if comfort is an issue for anyone.    I was also curious about how much the tiny bass ports on the back affected the sound so I closed both of them off. It reduces...

The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread

Although these sound great, I am contemplating putting mine up for sale as I don't have anything that powers them to their fullest and don't plan on obtaining the proper gear anytime soon.    Since these are the "first editions" I would expect there to be more drops in the future but I don't...

FiiO E11K &A3 Portable Amplifier Info/News Thread (Early Impressions)

I've never used the Topping but I think the E11K is more powerful. It depends on the headphones you're using. You won't really be able to tell the difference on some headphones and others, there will be a noticeable difference.

Sennheiser PC 350 SE.... Best for Gaming...?

I think you'll be happy with the 350's    A portable dac+amp for gaming? The ones I see recommended are the Creative Sound Blaster series. There is also the Astro Mix Amp. If you're talking about any sort of portable amp+dac, some popular ones are the Fiio E07K, Fiio E17K, Schiit Fulla. Just a...

Sennheiser PC 350 SE.... Best for Gaming...?

Most people on here go with the headphones + separate mic combo so you'd probably get better answers on a gaming forum. Another fairly popular headset is the Astro A40 if you want to take a look at that. Audio technica recently came out with some new headsets called the AG1 which seems to be...

    Quality Interconnect Need

I would say Monoprice has the best value in cables.    Here are a couple I found. You'll have to use a 1/8" adapter:   http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021815&p_id=5597&seq=1&format=2  ...

Recommendation for an open cans sub $300 for gaming and music !!

I've never tried the first 2, but you might not be satisfied with the bass on the senns, They don't lack bass but they don't thump either. I would go with either your first or second choice. Also take a look at the Fidelio X1 (bassy) and X2 (more balanced)

Audio Technica ATH M50x vs Sennheiser HD 598....?

Completely different headphones. The 598's aren't going to satisfy your bass requirement, but they are pretty much better in all the other aspects.

The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread

The E10K will be sufficient. They won't be pushing the K7XX to their max but they will still sound very good. I am using an E11K which sound great to me. If you really want to get 100% out of the K7XX, I've heard they pair well with a hybrid tube amp.

FiiO E11K &A3 Portable Amplifier Info/News Thread (Early Impressions)

I guess I kind of figured it out. I have to plug in the headphones to the e11k and then plug the e11k into my phone. The amp also has to be turned on before plugging it into the phone. I guess I'll just have to do it this way every time.

FiiO E11K &A3 Portable Amplifier Info/News Thread (Early Impressions)

So my E11K stopped working with my phone...or maybe the other way around. It no longer works when I go from phone>E11K>headphones but just phone>headphones works perfectly fine . With the phone>E11K>headphones, the sound just comes out of the speaker of the phone, even though when I connect my...
