Received my pads yesterday. Did the vent mod and fitted them. They are very comfortable but not had a chance to really listen for an extended period. Considering what the pads cost to buy they are outstanding value, well done Modulor, really appreciate your efforts.

My pads left Alexandria on December 31st bound for Merryfield were they had a brief 3 day rest before the onward journey to Chicago. That was a bit much for USPS. They have been stuck in the windy city since January 4th. God knows when they will arrive in the UK.

Not received mine either..... Oh well, I have a new DAC to play with until the Modulor Jergpads arrive

I haven't done any of these mods-just my reluctance to mess with expensive gear I suppose. I was pondering if any mods could be done in a none-destructive way. Would you get an improvement by sticking a piece of pleather inside the velour pads between the velour and foam? This is effectively...

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

Regarding the hypothetical velour earpads, I would agree comfort is the most important factor. A replacement headband would be a great idea too, one that fitted over the existing and fastened with velcro for example. Now if the two products were available in one package, saving postage, you...

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

I have been thinking about the headband issue and how to make it more comfortable without cutting or otherwise damaging the existing headband. I was wondering if a car seatbelt pad could be clipped over it. There are some pleather type ones on Ebay, might send for one if anyone thinks it might work.

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

I have recently replaced the tube in my hybrid valve/mosfet amp with a NOS Mullard E88CC. The HE-400's seem to love this tube, it has an almost liquid presentation and it's the highest quality sound I have heard in 30 years of playing with hifi equipment. A good quality amp is essential for...

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

Quote:   Only about 150mm, as I said, I am not making any great claims (seen too many cable wars on Hifi Wigwam) but I did notice a difference. I could have returned the cables but chose to keep them.

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

Although I am happy with the treble response from my HE-400's I thought I might experiment a bit with cables to see if any improvement was possible. Rather than replace the headphone cable I have changed the analogue cables between dac and headphone amplifier with silver ones. I don't make any...

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

After a few weeks use I can say that the sound quality is just what I am after, strong but realistic bass, stunningly accurate mids and nice sweet highs without the exaggeration that can lead to sibilance. I do think the headband needs more padding. I guess slapheads will find it downright...

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

Believe me, it is nothing to do with your headphones and everything to to with the recording method. Try some 24/96 files or XRCD through a Squeezebox Touch. I wouldn't contaminate my headphones with You Tube stuff! Honestly you might as well use a £20 set of cans. Mine sounded harsh for the...

A good quality amp is a must for these cans. This is what I use: http://www.custom-hifi-cables.co.uk/home/hifi-components/ha10-se-headphone-amplifier. I use the DC1 power supply to feed it. A marriage made in heaven, sounds sublime.

First impressions will be very misleading. These cans need a good few hours to sound even half decent. Mine sounded ok after about 6 hours use.

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

Received mine today. They are a bit heavier than I expected but very comfortable, wouldn't fancy the more expensive ones which are heavier again. Fairly disappointed in the sound quality for the first few hours but things seem to be improving. Had a bad fright when the left channel lost about...

    HIFIMAN HE-400 Planar Headphones Pre-order

The most interesting thing in the Headfonia review was, in my opinion, the comments about how much the sonic signature could be changed by aftermarket cables. It will be good to see someone make a cable than can make the treble sparkle without losing the punchy bass.

    HIFIMAN HE-400 Planar Headphones Pre-order

Personally I am far more concerned about the channel imbalance/loss of one channel than the delay issue. I would rather wait a further few weeks and get a product that is 100% than go through all the headache of sending it back..... Please Fang, keep us up to date on identifying and correcting...
