Honestly I would just upgrade your amplifier. The HD650 scales so well that if its the sound you like you will struggle to find something as good. A headphone that compliments the HD650, however, might just be the ticket. Have you tried modifying the hd650?

Has anyone tried using the original dust cover and cutting the fabric out of the pads? I find that the stock dust cover helps to control a lot of reflections in the HD800 ear cups.

I am pairing it with the HD650 and HD800. I have a utopia but it has become too fatiguing for me to listen to and thus have placed an order for a ZMF Auteur. Here is an obligatory pic which I failed to attach the first time around.

This does look like a very neat solution! I found that my EC ZDS with triangular rubber feet isolates vibration very well. I wonder how rubber spike would work under the granite....
