Unique Melody Bone Conduction Family (MEST&MEXT and their siblings) Announcement and Impression Thread.
Agree that "thinner" to me suggest lack of good seal. For me I found the xelastics needed like 10-15 minutes to warm up and conform to the ear. I also found it helpful to relax and try to let my ears just "settle". I tend to tense up my jaw and just relaxing my jaw almost always saw an...- sfoclt

It's a loaner, so I have to convince @zach915m to make me a matching macassar ebony one to match my others. I have another VC at the office too.- sfoclt

Hi @Nada. It sounds terrific. I am mostly a speaker person but still want my headphone experience to be good when I do listen that way. I've had EC and DNA amps before but I really prefer not to have dedicated headphone equipment around. High impedance headphones work great directly off the...- sfoclt

I just got one, updated the driver and firmware from a PC and have been using it with iPhone and iPad with multiple cords and no issues with any of it.- sfoclt

I bought a second, similar VC as well. This will match my Macassar Ebony/Ruby Atrium.- sfoclt

Possibly. I’m just talking about my personal assessment of value. I should pull out my VC wood box to compare.- sfoclt

The box was a $200 extra this round. Personally I thought what came was worth maybe $20 and not $200. My lid was warped and didn’t close properly. Seemed cheap.- sfoclt

ZMF Atrium - new open-back co-flagship
Yes, Macassar Ebony. I was a little worried about the "ruby red" but it ends up matching the burgandy on my transformer covers perfectly so all looks great together.- sfoclt

Yes, only one input on the D3a. If I settled on a single cartridge I could stick with that. But a little more exploration likely still. Would be a shame to not use the Zanden to its full potential with some better mono carts. I’ve tried a number of pre RIAA mono records from the 50’s and the...- sfoclt

Thanks. The two arms are a Glanz MH-124S with an SPU Century and, yes, in the back a Schick 12 with a vdh Crimson Stradivarius. I mix things up when I want a change but right now the SPU is into the D3a and the vdh into the Zanden. I may downsize at some point as I rarely listen to digital, and...- sfoclt

Thomas Mayer Da3 phono, 10Y line stage and 801/300B monoblocks. I had Thomas include a headphone connection on the back of the preamp, which works with high impedance phones like the VC. That’s the long cord going to back of preamp. The other unconnected cord goes to the McIntosh amp, which I...- sfoclt

1. Get an adapter like the one above, and then connect your headphone cable to the adapter cable (and connect the adapter cable directly to the speaker binding posts, using the 16 ohm taps on the McIntosh). However, the McIntosh has really tight connectors on the back that don't take banana...- sfoclt
