    Best-looking, reasonably-priced amp

The O2/ODAC is popular and very capable but it still has a very much DYI look with exposed screws and ergonomics playing a second fiddle to cost.

1/8 inch adapter for Denon AH-D7000?

I went with the Sennheiser pigtail with my LCD-2s :).

**Hifiman HE-400 Impressions and Discussion Thread**

Quote: 1. They tend to work themselves out over a period of time. 2. Thin, small threads and something that is ostensibly screwed and unscrewed on a semi-regular basis is perhaps not the best mix.

    So many to choose

AKG K550 is a decent pair of headphones. The Denon Dx000's are not the best if you actually need a closed headphone rather than a "closed" headphone.

    beats by dre studio alternatives?

Android compatible as in with a remote and with a mic? Or do you mean something else? There are not a lot of audiophile headphones that have mics and remotes; generally audiophile headphones have rigorous amping requirements which is normally mutually exclusive with mobile devices.   To be...

Which sub 400,- (preferably) open headphone should I buy?

The HE-400 has a delightful sound for the cost. I had one for a while paired with the O2 amp and thought they sounded very good in all regards.

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

I think the LCD-2's are the clearly superior headphone; I wouldn't say there is a metric by which you can say that the HE-400 is better than the LCD-2. I had a chance to listen to the HE-400 again recently after having owned the LCD-2 for a few months and don't regret having spend 2.5x the money...

The Audeze LCD-2 Ortho thread (New)

Great headphones. I have been using mine for a few months now and am impressed every time I use them.

The Audeze LCD-2 Ortho thread (New)

Is anyone else not a fan of the stock cable. The new style flat cable just feels cheap to me for some reason. I'm not a believer in cables (quite the opposite actually), but I kind of want to buy a new one just because I am OCD.

The Audeze LCD-2 Ortho thread (New)

Quote:   There seems to be a lot of variability with all the wood finishes from Audeze. My Rosewood are darker than some of the pictures I have seen but it isn't the darkest either.   I definitely shows that they are hand made, and in my personal opinion, adds character to the...

Looking for headphones for hip/hop rap and great bass

Denon D2000 if you can still find them are great for bass.

    USB cable and Sound Quality

Quote:   I was being facetious. That said the native USB plug nearest to your PCH controller (thus minimizing the length of the trace) will theoretically offer the best performance and the least steps through different logic. Some motherboards do have issues when you plug too many USB...

    USB cable and Sound Quality

Announcement:   I think we have missed the forest for the trees. USB cables are the problem, the USB controller is the problem, I have heard the the Intel PCH controller is much better than any of the ASMedia chips, you should check your controller and make sure you have your $300 USB cable...

Music, Where did you get it?

Quote:   Because you are only considering the variable costs of delivery a song to the consumer (i.e. the cost of the bandwidth). However there is a high fixed cost for hosting the song, and perhaps licensing the rights to distribute a different version of the song from the studios, which...

Review by 'TickleMeElmo' on item 'Etymotic Research HF3'

Definitely a great earphone. For comparison sake I also own the LCD-2R2 and the Etymotic MC3.   Sound   These are very neutral and bordering on bass light. The bass is definitely there and it is very detailed but it lacks the punch due to the small driver size and the limited amount of...

Why are Etymotics so Horribly ugly?

Am I the only one who thinks that the Ety's look pretty cool; at least better than the blobs of translucent plastic that a lot of the new generation of IEMs look like.

    USB cable and Sound Quality

Quote:   The problem with analog signal is much more difficult to quantify. I can see things like ambient air pressure, air temperature, humidity, how clean your ears are on a given day, your blood pressure at a specific time, position of the headphones on your head, etc to all make a...

    USB cable and Sound Quality

Quote:   That's somewhat different in two key ways:   A. You cannot say that it sounds better out of the E11 unless you double blind test it with a reasonable confidence interval (i.e. not try it 4 times and if you guessed right 3 times call it a day).   B. The circuitry in the...

Audeze vs. Hifiman Orthos with respect to lisening taste

I have only tried the HE-400 and the LCD-2 is in every way better than the HE-400.

What song drops the deepest bass?

Quote:   The deepest base would be a x Hz tone as x --> 0, or as T, the period, of the oscillating medium goes to infinity. I.e. something that is nearly still.

What song drops the deepest bass?

Steppin' Razor by Sublime ahs a wonderfully deep base line going throughout.

First post, looking for a new headset around $400 budget

Quote:   USPS is the government postal service.   UPS, Fedex, DHL, TNT, etc are all private companies some of which have some what misleading names (Federal Express comes to mind).
