Suggestion for a good (sports) IEM (with Android controls) under $100.

Can you get SE215's _with_ android controls for under $100?  From what I remember the cable with the controls is separate and not cheap.

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out

The e10 is the only thing I can think of under $100.   It can drive them.  I have no idea if it'll sound better than your sound card :)

**Hifiman HE-400 Impressions and Discussion Thread**

Well you can just run  from computer -> DAC -> receiver (via RCA if need be)

**Hifiman HE-400 Impressions and Discussion Thread**

wje:  Interesting point on the vintage gear, especially given the 'love in' in the vintage thread    I'm still looking to play with some of it down the road, simply because picking up an amp / receiver that will sound great for < $150 is very attractive    Thanks for the tip on the 797...

Quote: Thanks, I've read literally 100's of pages in the vintage amp thread and am pretty comfortable with the SX line as my first choice :)   I don't think the 400's need the speaker taps  (especially on a vintage SA or SX :) ) and I personally wouldn't be comfortable with that setup...

Quote:   I've been thinking of adding a Pioneer SX 650 / 750 for headphone listening.  But space is at a bit of a premium right now so I'm holding off.  I may eventually look at moving up DAC/amp wise, but for now I think the e10 is going to get the primary duty for driving these :)

I just picked up some HE400's.  Absolutely love them.  I'm driving them off a Fiio E10, which has plenty of juice to power these.     Nothing else to add, these just make me smile when I listen to music, and really, I can't ask for much more

    [REVIEW] Shure SE215

Quote:   On #1: I actually had my left side start to cut out (bought last year in the fall) turned out that there was simply some "crud" in the connection, cleaned with a tiny bit of paper towel, voila, no more problem.  I used to wear mine to the gym a lot (cardio workouts = sweat) so...

    Brainwavz B2 Discontinued?

... but of course the date can always change :)   Like it did on the HM5 earlier in the year for instance...    I did get my pre-order in on the b2, really looking forward the them, based on all the reviews should be a very interesting IEM

    Your favorite IEM under $50?

JK1: Not sure if your response is directed at me.  :)   Really, when I'm at the gym, sound quality is secondary, I'm not listening critically.   What matters is: 1) Cheap.  If I destroy it, I don't want to care 2) Comfortable and will stay in ear.  Not willing to mess around with...

Opinions Wanted: What Is the Most Expensive Pair of IEMs That You Would Consider Exercising with?

When I'm exercising, I'm not listening critically.  I'm drowning out the environment.  No reason to spend more than $15 (see my sig ;) )   YMMV.

    Your favorite IEM under $50?

Quote:   I use the SHE3580 for the gym.  For $15 shipped, hard to beat.  My fave for the under $50 IEM.  Then again, I don't have that much to compare to in that range :)

    Problems with Shure SE215

Without seeing how you are wearing them and what they look like from different positions in your ear, I think it is very difficult to provide any feedback.   I'll try a couple of questions though:   Are you using the 'memory wire' to ensure it's doing it's part in holding the IEMs in...

Headphones that can be "fixed" with Equalizers

I've had "success" in adjusting my SR80i's with some slight eq'ing (along with the L-cush pads & the tape mod).    Followed Tyll's suggestions from the Grado-pads post and am very happy with it.     Having said that, calling it "fixing" headphones goes a bit far.  The headphone's natural...

    Etymotic hf5 or Shure SE215

I really like my SE215's and used to wear them to the gym.  The problem is if you sweat a lot the connection on the Shure's can get some corrosion.  I ended up having the left side cut out (easy fix to clean with a piece of paper).   So I stopped wearing the 215's for working out, simply...

Is it worth to spend 1 month salary to buy high end headphones?

If $200 = a month salary, then no, I do not think I'd spend that on headphones.  Period.   I'd personally think that there are other ways to spend that money.  I think a lot of people who answered may have answered "is it worth it to spend $200 on headphones", without putting it into...

    Superlux hd661 vs hd668b?

I'm pretty sure this has come up here before (not too long ago) have you searched?  I also seem to remember Tyll at innerfidelity.com tested both.   :)

    Motorcycle IEMs?

I've ridden with my SE215's and they worked very well with a full face.  The fact that they are over the ear helps when putting on the helmet.

    Bicycle-Fi!

Romax - added last year for conditioning rides   2000 C-Dale Jeckyll w/ original Lefty, these days used very lightly   Nishiki Landau ... I'm thinking this may be a winter project next year for a complete refresh... or I'm going to sell it.  But I like the old school steel...

    The PA2V2 Thread

Quote:   Canada post can be pathetic.  My HM5's and E10 took 5 days to get from 'Customs Cleared - Vancouver' to my house.  I could walk to the postal facilities and back in a day.  One day.  And that was using "Xpresspost".  Can you imagine how long it would have taken if it was...

    Sub-$100 amp or none?

I'd suggest listening straight from the iphone and getting an E10 ($75) for use with the laptop.  Well within your budget, keeps your 'mobile' rig streamlined and when you do sit down you get the benefit of a DAC that's considered very good value for money by many (I'm biased, I own one).  ...

Portable Headphone Amplifiers + Airport Security.. How do you pass them?

I took my PA2V2, didn't even get asked about it.  Kept it with my laptop bag and never got a question, comment or had any problems.  Mind you, given the current state of Security Theater, just because something works for a few people with no issues is no guarantee that some overzealous...

Philips SHE3580 IEM review--how can something sound so good for $10???

Quote:   sorry :)   Just FYI, I paid the $15 for the ebay ones.  I'm not really concerned about someone faking a cheap headphone like this, call me crazy :)
