$200 Closed Headphones for Music and Gaming

Great suggestions guys, it seems headphones are a bit more expensive there, but my friend mentioned that he would be willing to get something over ebay as well. Keep the suggestions coming, I'll be going over some of the choices with him over the next few days. Definitely something with a nice...

$200 Closed Headphones for Music and Gaming

Hey everybody, one of my pals in Israel is looking for a pair of headphones meant for gaming on his pc and music on the go on his phone (Sony Xperia). He didn't know too much about audio quality yet, so I had to spend a few minutes persuading him not to get a pair of Beats and a Logitech G35...

Mad Lust Envy's Headphone Gaming Guide: (8/18/2022: iFi GO Blu Review Added)

Quote: Quote: Sorry, forgot to mention I wasn't playing strictly only BF3. I've tried out the Mass Effect 3 Demo, several games on Steam (Valve games, GTA, Skyrim, COD, demos, and a bunch of indie games in between) and I always find that DH skewers the accuracy, whereas regular stereo...

Mad Lust Envy's Headphone Gaming Guide: (8/18/2022: iFi GO Blu Review Added)

I seem to be a bit of a special case, but I just can't find myself to prefer Dolby Headphone on as opposed to off. I've toyed around with different sound settings rather tediously for the past week or so and have never been able to find any DH setting that felt anywhere near as lifelike or...

    Headphone Sightings 2

I really don't feel the need to post Beats sightings, since I probably see at least 10 pairs a day, but lately I've been seeing a bunch of Grados, and even two HD 25-1 II's today. It seems that in the past few months or weeks, in general, there have been a declining number of stock earphones/iBuds.

Mad Lust Envy's Headphone Gaming Guide: (8/18/2022: iFi GO Blu Review Added)

For some reason when I turn on Dolby Headphone, I get the opposite of what I expect and the positioning actually seems to be worse, playing mostly Battlefield 3. I've eventually started playing with it off, and I find that everything feels more pinpoint without it, and has the obvious benefit of...

    Headphones with sound like beats.

IIRC Klipsch Image Ones can go on sale around ~$100 quite often, most of their headphones are known to be bass heavy.

Getting "called-out" for not wearing the Beats

Quote: He was right though, they definitely don't have the same quality sound!

Getting "called-out" for not wearing the Beats

If it makes you feel any better, there's still a possibility that it was all marketing. I've seen him in one of his random videos wearing a pair of Sennheisers.   Edit: HD202 II's, kinda meh

    Cheaper M50 sound sig?

Like everyone said above, if you're willing to spend a decent amount of money on headphones, or anything, just get what you want so that you don't end up wanting it later. Just find ways to limit your spending on other things for about a week or so, and you'll be fine.

Getting "called-out" for not wearing the Beats

lol, I just came across that article while watching the Pro Bowl, not surprising to see how the comments section is looking :)

    Headphone Sightings 2

Been seeing a few M50s around campus (surprise, surprise lol) the past few weeks, although still nowhere near as many as Beats cans. One of my friends got Sennheiser HD448s, and he told me he didn't like them all that much because they were lacking bass, and that he would prefer a pair of...

    Bass Headphones?

This should get you some recommendations. http://www.head-fi.org/t/567149/my-200-and-under-bassheads-buyers-guide   Though the bass on the Beats sounds good to Head-Fi virgins, once you have something to compare them to, you'll begin to find that they are comparatively muddy.

looking for a pair of powerful headphones

The volume difference is representative of the impedance of the headphones. Generally people who aren't properly introduced to higher quality audio won't know that amplifiers are used to overcome this issue. The Beats Studios and Pros actually have built in amplifiers, but they are of somewhat...

Bose QuietComfort 15 on rechargeable batteries?

What do you plan on using them for? In all likelihood, you won't need the noise cancellation unless you spend most of your listening time in noisy environments. Standard headphones will do just fine.   With that, Bose products are generally overpriced, and with some searching you'll be able...

Does anyone have an opinion on entry level headphones?

At the risk of sounding like a tool, I'll put up the M50 as a recommendation, since you're looking for something that doesn't need an amp. I find that, while I don't prefer using them for rock or some instrumental music as much as my Grado SR80i and Senn HD 558, I think the M50's 'house' sound...

    Best Traveling Full Sized Earphones

This is probably the only situation that would warrant me considering the Bose Quiet Comforts. Though the audio quality in general isn't anywhere near as good as anything we typically look at in the price point, I have to hand it to Bose that they are extremely lightweight and comfortable, and...

    What headphones don't leak sound?

You're typically going to want to go with a large closed back phone with very thick earpads. ljokerl's headphone comparison thread does rate some of the isolation. Though the sound quality isn't very good, Bose headphones do have some very good isolation and comfort.   That said, you will...

Need help.. $150 headphones, closed set, good bass, good soundstage

I didn't really enjoy using my M50s for BF3. The bass was pretty heavy on it and it was hard to pick out details and positions. The mids are also slightly recessed, so there are definitely more balanced options for the price. The Audio Technica A700 supposedly has a very similar soundstage to...

    WORST headphone you ever heard?

I don't really think anything here can beat dollar store "Hi-Fi Super Professional Earphones", they don't even have a real brand associated with them. While some people here may be mentioning the worst they've heard at a price point, these things make EVERYTHING else sound good. They've got...

Best Bass IEMs for $150 range

If you want to save a bit of money, I'd recommend the Brainwavz M4. I've spent a little more time listening to my pair over the past two weeks, and the sound has honestly grown on me a bit (not to be mistaken with burn in). While I don't consider myself a basshead, I would have a tough time...

    Monster breaking up with Beats

Beats is supposedly starting the manufacturing process on its own, but are also considering other partnerships, according to Iovine.   Real douchey on his part to say that previous higher end offerings looked like medical instruments, and that there were essentially no options for consumers...

Headphone/IEM Shootout for the Budget-Minded (College Students and such)

I'm a real sucker for Brainwavz sets, and I've been amazed for their overall exceptional bang for the buck across almost the entire line. The M1's and the Beta's were probably my favourite in terms of value (the Betas are even more appealing currently during the BOGO promotion, which brings it...

Getting "called-out" for not wearing the Beats

"So if you're a headphone nut, howcome you don't have a pair of beats? They're the best. Otherwise you have to settle for the bose"   From the Apple site:   Let me just throw this out really fast. There are a ton of audio snobs out there who love to trash these as over priced pieces of...
