You might try a pair of Ortofon EQ 7s. I used them for years and they are excellent and also the cables hang straight down. I still have a pair of Etys but don't use them anymore.

I bought the ATH IM 02s and like them better then the CK 10s. I think you would like them, lots of detail, bigger Soundstage than the CK10s.

I recently bought a Q701, and I love the sound, much better than my K 701, but as others have stated you are going to need an amp, and a good powerful one, to get the sound from these cans. Just for the heck of it, I just listened to them out of the computer.  Very anemic sound, low volume...

I bought a pair of the Senns recently and I am impressed with the sound quality, and the isolation is also good.  I don't think you will be disappointed.

Mine arrived today also.  Just to state my tastes, I use the CK10 and Ortofon eQ7 and like both very much.  I also have an SM 3 and still sometimes like to listen to my Shure E 500.  I still have my ETY 4 P's and occasionally use them.  With all the discussion of sibilance and other problems...

With the right seal the treble is very sweet and musical, not harsh at all.  When I first had them and was using various tips to get things right, the wrong tips would make them too harsh.

I find it quite neutral and detailed.  Not a booming bass, perhaps that is why some people think it is bright.  If you don't get a good seal with it, it can be quite bright, though.

When the earsonics arrived around noon today, I listened to them for a minute and they were very warm and the treble sounded very rolled off, kind of like a Shure E 500 only darker.  I thought, wow, this isn't good, so I hooked them up and let them play all afternoon while I was at work.  Around...

Mine came today, which is pretty fast, shipped on the 3rd.  Out of the box, nothing too exciting.  After they settle in I will post some impressions and comparisons with the UM3X, CK 10 etc.

That is a very interesting idea.  I'm sure I'm not the only one that would like to know if there are any significant differences between a custom and stock version.
